On the Other Hand...

On the Other Hand...

I could just ignore the pain in my thumb

for it seems a mere mosquito bite,

a small irritation when compared

to others with far worse injuries

or ailments.

But, on the other hand, I can seek help

from trained medical professionals

well experienced in their field

who can diagnose this little

I could just complain, rant and rave

and make life miserable…

Cross in the Clouds

My daughter and saw a cross in the clouds yesterday in Ocala, FL. It had already begun to change before I could get my phone out to snap a picture, but it sure was something special to behold!

The Arms of a Friend

The Arms of a Friend

It seems there are times when faith isn't enough

to handle the burdens we carry,

when solace is found in the arms of a friend

or the loving companion we married.

Though the love of God is always there,

sometimes it seems He just shrugs

and leaves it up to the arms of a friend

to pull us in close for a hug.

When turmoil seems to surround you

and nothing is turning out right,

leave it up to the arms of a… Continue

One Stitch at a Time

One Stitch at a Time

Friendships are made one stitch at a time.

A feeling of comfort so hard to define,

like a fine old quilt is soft and warm,

friendships enfold and then conform.

Friendships surround, yet set us free

so each person can be what she must be.

Together they grow and soon both find

that friendships are made one stitch at a time.

July 4th - Independence Day

Posted on July 4, 2010 at 10:44am 3 Comments

As was mentioned in our church service this morning, it's a shame so many of us celebrate this day just for the picnics, cookouts, beer, and fireworks rather than celebrating the birth of our nation and honoring all those who have given their time, their love, and their lives to keep us as free and independent as possible. All of us here should strive to be good:

A nation under God

M oving always toward… Continue

Hello Ruth, Yes this place is the best place to make and meet new friends,,,It seems that in 2009 I wrote a poem that at 2-AM in the morning these words flowed like a river out of me...The Dr. even said that is when we get the most of our inspirations. God has certainly made himself known in the poem...I don't write too often but when I do-it is crazy, unexplainable. Yes that is our family,,and we love them so much,,,and to think we are so very different.  I'll Have to check out your page on Amazon. I'll see if I can find you on face book. We are having a house showing, Thursday, so I may not be around...

Hello Ruth,

In response to your question as to why I don't want any more steroid shots - I did have a trigger finger, first on my index finger, and then on my middle finger on the left hand. I had the steroid shots for those just over a year ago, and now my index finger is having the same problem.  At my age osteoporosis is highly likely, and steroids/cortisone shots will make the bones weaker, so I don't want any more shots.  My orthopedist also said that surgery is another option, buy removing the tendons that hold the muscles back, this I don't want because it will render my hand useless.

I have found an OTC ointment - it's call COBROXIN, made from the venom of cobra.  I rub it on my hands before I go to bed and it seems to alleviate the inflammation.

I hope your hands get better.  I have to admit, getting older doesn't help much.

So I pray that I keep my wits and strength for as long as needed to watch my granddaughter grow.

Best regards - Aida
