Hi Sandi- I LOVE the Carpenter's Wheel you had selected for your ID photo! (Can you tell I'm fond of scrappy quilts?!)
Welcome to our friendly-and fun-group!
PS I graduated from ISU so am well acquainted with Ames. Go Clones! :-)
Hi Sandy, glad you are aboard. You will have a blast on this site with these ladies. There funny, patient, full of laughter and full of information on just about anything to do with sewing and quilting. Looking forward to getting to know you. I live in Murray which is just off hwy34 between OSceola and Creston.
Hi Sandi, I live in Centrville, own a very small house and after moving my sister and brother this past weekend I am going to keep unloading stuff!! Centerville claim to fame is world's largest square and Rathbun Lake and now the recreation park with all the ammenties, it is very nice there but will have to be supported by out of towners as most people in C'ville are very poor! I am very familiar with Ames and would have to pick that area as #1 to live, I put my x-husband thru school there by working at McFarland Clinic and MGH back in the 70"s Left in 1980 and wnt to SiouxCity and then Northa Carolina, then Omaha Neb. then back to C'ville It has been a journey!! But I still have one good friend that resides in Nevada, Ia. I have rattled on enough!PJ
Good morning Sandi, Nice cool one for a change. Did some weed pulling in the garden but since I just had a knee replacement 5 weeks ago, I don't last long out there and all seems well, weeds and all without me. Next year.
Found some addresses for you for quilt shops. I love the shop connected to Neal's vacuum & sewing. But I can't remember the name of it. It is located in Bettendorf at 5141 Utica Ridge RD. Off 53rd street to the south. Another one is in LeClaire, not far called Expressions in Thread. It's right on the main street of LeClaire as you come into town, coming from Bettendorf. If you know where Muscatine is, again not far but further than LeClaire, there's the Cotton Shop. 331 E. 2nd St. That's the main downtown street. Nice shop. And if you want cross the river to Moline, IL there's Quilts by the OZ. The addres is 5432 22nd Ave. Phone 309-762-9673. Shop is off the Ave. of the Cities. If they don't have it she'll find it for you. Just stuffed with fabric. And down the ave. of the cities a little ways is The Quilt Basket. 627 Ave. of the Cities. Phone 309-755-9750. Is that enough? There's also Ben Franklin in Moline and I just found that and they have nice fabric there and notions and patterns etc. 2500 52nd Ave. Moline 309-762-0002. Happy quilting!!
Yes, they are downtown in Decorah. I went with my friend, her mom and sister. When we arrived in Decorah we parked in front of the store and my friend's sister said it was the old natural food Coop's location. The Coop had moved down a block on the left hand side of the street. We had lunch in the Tea Room and just saw yesterday on Channel 7's news (Waterloo) the lady living above the tea room had a fire in her appartment! Last summer we stayed in Hotel Winneshiek and enjoyed it very much!
Sandi-Welcome to the Iowa Quilters! I hope you enjoy this group. We're a fun bunch and there are many talented quilters here. I'm in Dubuque. Where abouts are you located? I can't wait to see some of your work!
