I am new to quilting and love looking online, in fact I am spending more time looking at everyone's quilts than I am quilting! (thats bad)A friend several hundred miles away referred me to your site.Lovely work folks!!
I've been working on quilts for our workshops at our Guild. We are nearly done our Straight to the Point workshop.............its a quilt pattern from www.quiltwoman.com
A quick easy technique for making quilts on point. Now I'm doing the samples for Water Bottle Snowmen. I'll post a picture soon of these. A friend came up with this after another workshop we did. Helps to recycle those water bottles everyone uses. Other than that, I'm still making quilts for a local children's charity. I gave up housework............it interferes with my quilting.
Shannon.. I am a clerk in ER and love nights too.. you are right it is a whole different world... are you up at 200am?? LOL will have to get your home # you can private message me if you like and kinda let me know your hours. I always carry hand work with me applique or something and I can always show some quilters tricks
I did buy his book and found it helpful- try Amazon.ca - you probably will find it for a good price. It is also available at our local public library- perhaps you will find it in yours. ( the Harmonic convergence book) Toronto has its own beauty and lots of wonderful ethnic areas to enjoy. I went to university here in Edmonton and stayed afterwards. My parents live in Red Deer a city that is about 2 hours drive from here.
I have been teaching since 1978 and have taught kindergarten since 1985. I currently teach a full day kindergarten class ( we don't have junior /senior k here- just kindergarten) My kids are urban aboriginal kids ( over 95 %) who come to our school from all over the north side of the city. We are a K- 6 school and offer Cree as a second language. We also offer cultural programming such as dance and guitar/fiddle for our division II kids. We also host seasonal feasts. My students attend 5 days a week full day programming. Most kindergarten students here attend half day programming but we have 25 schools in our district that offer full day programming. I have taught in my current school since 1996 and enjoy the work. They are busy little ones and you are right about not ever working at my desk while the kids are there.
Your dog is a cutie. We have a schnoodle named Dusty who is charcoal grey. She is a bit of a diva but we enjoy her company. We also have a cat named Mars and a son named Kevin. Our son will soon be 22.
Life is hectic these days and we are looking forward to the Thanksgiving weekend.
Warmest regards,
Anna
HI Shannon,
Nice to meet you Shannon.
Yes, the harmonic convergence quilts are Ricky Timms pattern. I make them large enough to be a big couch quilt ( about a twin size) I start with a meter square piece of fabric of four squares to form the convergence and then add borders to the body. It is a fun pattern . I have not tried the more complicated versions of the pattern but hope to try it one day.
Which part of Ontario are you from? Does you friend Debbie belong to the local guild here in Edmonton. I have been a member in the past but not for the past couple of years. I quilt with a small group of women every other Monday night. I have seriously quilted since 1996 though I had done some quilting prior to that time. Thanks for coming to visit my page- You can see more of my pieces on my blog
you can find it here: http://quiltmomsjourney.blogspot.com/
