I have worked at Connecting Threads since 1999 in various positions. I am now working part time at home sewing some of the projects and testing patterns. I love quilting! I have learned so much while working for Connecting Threads. I especially love to make baby blankets and scrappy quilts. My husband and I have been married 36 years and we have five children and 16 grandchildren.

Weekend project

My daughter has wanted to make this carry-all/diaperbag for a while so we decided to work on it while they were here for Thanksgiving. We didn't get started until Saturday. It took most of the day but we finished it!

Ready for Spring

I also am so ready for spring. We have had some nice days and today is sunny but it is still cold outside. Yesterday it rained most of the day, which isn't unusual around here, but it is nice to have sunshine. I have appreciated the pictures of the flowers that have been posted in the last few days. I have seen some spring bulbs blossoming and my lilac bushes look like they are finally starting to come out and the blossoms on the cherry tree look like they are getting ready to pop. Hi Sharla,

I just purchased Friendship Strips and Scraps and noticed that you reviewed it favorably.  I was disappointed in the book because although she recommends using precut strips, such as jelly rolls or honey buns, none of the patterns are for that size strip.  Almost all of her patterns call for 1" strips.  I cannot find a source for 1" precuts; do you know of one?

Sharla, could you tell me where I can get the pattern ''Jack's Chain''. I can't seem to find it in my books. I have so many reproduction kids fabrics I think would work well in this quilt.

Sharla, I understand you are the pattern tester? Thank you for "testing" my Take Along Sewing Tote. I am pleased, and amazed, that there weren't more corrections. I'm glad you enjoyed making it. Now to make the corrections on my pattern and send the revision to those who wanted a copy of it.
Just looked at your photos -- you have made some wonderful quilts!

I know what you mean Sharla, the southern stars quilt is the first one I've done for myself and my 4 year old grandaughter has already asked me for it. She will have to wait for a few more years though. I just left a comment on your flannel star quilt. Wow!! Have a good weekend!
