About Me
I am a 4th generation native Floridian. I have been married for 20 years to a wonderful man who is still my best friend and supporter. We have lived in many places, some tougher than others but always been able to make the most out of our adventures. 10 years ago we came back to the USA and founds jobs in Jacksonville, which has grown to become a place we really enjoy. While I have been living here I have found my newest and most challenging craft the love of quilting. In the past few years I have really grown in my quilting skills and I am thrilled have many many more years to go until I can actually consider myself a real quilter.

King size BOM finished

Posted on June 26, 2013 at 8:30pm 9 Comments

I am happy to say I've completed my first BOM! It was a year long and a huge quilt top! The pattern is by Swirley Girls and it is 120" x 110" thankfully there is a terrific Longarmer close to me who can do the quilting. I took time and embroider my name, DHs name and our wedding date in a bottom block. I think it will be a terrific gift to mark our 20th wedding anniversary coming up in July. I'm looking forward to us enjoying many more years of sleeping under this monster.

I happened to be married to a Belfast Boy who I brought across the pond about 12 years ago, so there was some late celebrating today as he had to work this morning. I totally took advantage of the quite house and went quilting. I was able to get the Lucky Charms packed away and all the new Easter items up and ready to be enjoyed.…

Hello Sheila, Wishing you the very happy and blessed birthday.  And Happy Valentine's day too.  I hope you are in good health and everything you wish for come true.

We're supposed to have another snowstorm this weekend, so I'm trying to get housework and laundry done in case we lose power.  Then I'll settle in my sewing room and try to finish some projects.

Have a great day.

One more question...Were your ties polyester, silk or both?  I would think that polyester would be easy to work with, but not sure about silk.  I am also thinking about fusing them to my block so they don't move on me while I quilt them.

Good morning Shelia!  You said you did not line your ties.  Did you have any trouble sewing them together, they didn't stretch?  Did you sew them together or did you place them on the pillow and sew them down one by one?

Your pillow looks great!  I love it!

Hi Sheila!  I would love to see your memory throw pillows that you made with ties.  Thank you!

Hi Sheila,

Thank you for checking out my BOM 2011.  I work steadily on my UFOs.  I have 57 at present and I quilt almost every day!  Some quilts in progress just have to mature in the closet for a while. LOL

Thank you very much Sheila, I will try that address as the only thing the same as the one I have is the city! Did she move during the year? I just don't understand it. Oh well it's not for you to worry about! Forgive my rambling please.

I am having a hard time waiting for Sat. to see the next block. End up making four of last block, two the wrong size. I guess I just made two pot holder for Christmas. I am making two sets. One in Red, White and Blue and and the other in yellow, purple and green. So far so good to be using scrapes and already cut pieces left from other projects.

Been stopping in the different sites for RWBS to see what everyone's up to. Love your bags and the bright colors in your quilts. Also wanted to say thank you for your kind comments on my DD's wedding quilt. It was definitely a labor of love. Had it finished with 2 weeks to spare. Look forward to getting better acquainted with you gals and participating in the swaps and things.
