Hi Sheila,
I wanted to pass on info about a site I learned of in a newsletter I get from Carol Doak (The author of several books on paper piecing.) She is appearing in the current episode of “The Quilt Show” hosted by Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims. I had never heard of the show before and maybe you already know about it but it is a web based show and community you can join. Check it out at www.thequiltshow.com. If you like what you see and you want more than what the free membership offers go to Carol Doak’s site at www.caroldoak.com. She has posted a coupon number that is valid January 25th thru 31st for $10.00 off a year subscription, and a link so you can view her episode for free. I found it to be a pretty cool site with mini lessons from world famous quilt artists as well as many other features.
I hope that 2010 has been treating you well. I’m trying to keep my feet on the ground but work has been keeping me up in the air flying from one end of the country to the other. I have some vacation time coming up in February! I can hardly wait! :-)
Cheers, Laura

Hi Sheila! I wanted to tell you about a site that Kathy Coy turned me on to and maybe you already know about it…it is www.quilting101.com. I haven’t spent a lot of time checking it out but from what I’ve seen it looks pretty cool. I also wanted to tell you about one of my favorite sites, besides Connecting Threads, that I purchase fabric and kits from. Check out www.keepsakequilting.com. I just got an e-mail from them promoting their “Keepsake Quick Kits” They have some really cute kits that vary in skill levels and some include printed panels. I’m going to order the Autotopia Kit…so cute for a little boy! On a new note: I would like to wish you a Very Merry Christmas! Can you believe that it is only 18 days away? Where has 2009 gone? I wanted to send you an e-card but couldn’t figure out how to send it to your page on “Quilt With Us” so I’ll just give you a web address to go to. Go to www.jacquielawson.com you can preview any of her cards without a subscription. I would have sent you “The Christmas Pony” with the greeting “Happy Holidays!” “May your Holiday be Merry and Bright and may the New Year bring you health and happiness!” With Peace, Laura

Hi Sheila, How did the check book cover go? I have one that my Mom made for me years ago that I still use. I think small projects like that are fun! One thing I like to do, and it’s a great way to use fabric from your stash, is to make sample blocks and turn them into hot pads or placemats. Hope you’re having a good weekend. Laura

Greetings Sheila, I am glad to hear that your health is in a place where you can pursue your dream of quilting! I think my favorite phases of quilting are: the fabric shopping, I can’t resist all the beautiful colors & prints, and the piecing, watching it all come together! I find the whole process fun and I think you will too. I would love to hear what you are working on… or planning. I have a couple of rag quilts in the works for two new babies that joined my family clan in the last couple of months. My niece had a little girl and my nephew, a little boy. You probably will not find me in the chat room, I have yet to pay a visit, but I would look forward to hearing from you. Cheers, Laura

Hi Sheila - I saw your discussion and thought I would swing by and say Hello! And welcome you as well. You will love this site!
It is good that you are doing well with your health, tht is a huge blessing for you.
Hope you have a wonderful day...looking forward to chatting with you, however, it may not be in the chat room. I don't go there too often. Most likely hear from me in a discussion, or commenting on a blog, or visit you on your page.
Just keep checking in on the chat room, as Gina (I think) said - you will eventually catch someone in there at the time you are!
