I'm originally from Newfoundland, moved here to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories in July of 1981. I work with the Government of the Northwest Territories. Living Common Law to a wonderful man and between the two of us we have six wonderful boys and two darling grandchildren. I started quilting about 10 years ago and love it. I've always wanted to quilt but never took the time to start it until I was inspired by my Aunt Eileen. The only problem I have with quilting is that my full time day time job gets in the way LOL, but if I didn't have that I wouldn't be able to afford to quilt. Anyways, like a lot of us quilters I have some UFOs that I will someday get finished. I love applique quilting the best. I love McKinna Ryan's work, I have three or four of her quilts. One just about finished and two or three not started yet, someday. I'm at the present working on a mystery quilt that was suppose to have been done last year. Decided it was time to get it done, now I can't wait to finish it to see how it turns out.

I really enjoyed you web page. The photo quilt is quite good. Someday I would like to try that techique. I work full time and mostly quilt at night. My husband is retired so he does the cooking, So I am fortunate that I do have more time in the evenings. I watch Nascar Racing and keep up with it in my sewing room while I quilt. Brenda
Hi Sherry, my name is Ellen Wise......almost a wiseman but not quite....actually it is my husbands name but it is okay. I am a retired, kind of, library lady with 30 years in Cumberlan library...where is that? Well here on Vancouver island it is one of the oldest coal mining communities....I do live in Courtenay now, just 10 km. from Cumberland and have been here most of my life...I have 2 daughters and 5 granddaughter, 2 of which live here and the other 3 are in Kingston Ontario......I also am a caregiver to two ladies in their fifties who have downs syndrome....so that keeps me busy too....but my ultimate passion is quilting...that includes other quilters, going to quilt events, buying fabricss everywhere I can and of course making quilts......I do mostly machine quilting as my hand stuff is not too good and with the aging arthritis stuff not really enjoyable....I have alwaus sewed but I am enthusiastically quilting for about 10 years or more.....One of my quilters friends, daughter was a Doctor in Yellowknife, but maybe has just moved, name might be Peters???? I was at the CQA In ottawa and met a few good quilters from there as well...so that is me and nice to meet another quilter......Ellen Wise
HI Sherry, I use to watch Ice road truckers who hauled in and out of Yellowknife. You are in COLD country. lol What are your summers like? I live in Maine on the New Brunswick border. I take my walks in Canada. My mother was born and raised there. All that seperates me from Canada is the
St. Croix River.
I have been sewing since 1963 but am still a novice when it comes to quilting. I didn't venture into that until just a few years ago. I have learned paper piecing and applique and trying my hand at landscape quilting. That is only in the practicing stages. I find quilting very addictive. I take in alteration so don't have much time to get allot of my own projects done.
Hi Sherry. Thanks for inviting me to be your friend. I've been reading some of the comments left for you. Holy Cow do some of those ladies never sleep! Mind you I posted one at 3 a.m. one morning so I guess I can't say anything. I am taking a class this week on Reversible quilting and then next week one on paper piecing. I have decided to broaden my skills this year along with finishing hundreds of U.F.O.'s. Have a good day.
