About Me
I've been hand piecing and quilting for almost 30 years now, although I spend more time away from the joys of quilting than I should. I have one daughter and two grandchildren, and when I'm not quilting, I love to write stories - long or short - it doesn't matter. There's not that much more to tell, so I'll leave it at that and just say that I am so glad that I found this little online community!

It worked!! Hand piecing a braided block!

Posted on August 4, 2010 at 10:25pm 9 Comments

Guess what? Remember that little dilemma I had awhile back, where I was looking for advice on how to piece a braided block by hand? Well, after days of brainstorming and asking every quilter I knew for advice, I came up with the idea of piecing the "braids" using a muslin backing for a foundation pieced block. Now keep in mind, this is the first time I've ever foundation pieced anything, and that I was… Continue

Help?

Posted on June 17, 2010 at 12:00pm 3 Comments

I am in need of some advice and/or help because I'm bummed. I have been lusting after the Woodland Stars quilt in the Golden Afternoon Collection ever since I first laid eyes on it. It is so beautiful! Unfortunately, I don't own a sewing machine and wouldn't know how to use it even if I did. I've always pieced all my quilts by hand and yeah, the braided block technique can't be done by hand. There is just no way I can cut across a seam, no matter how small my stitches are. The block would fall… Continue

Thank you for the birthday wishes!

I just wanted to thank everyone for the wonderful birthday wishes. They really made my day!! :)

I've been steadily piecing away, a happy little beaver working on a new project that I think will actually get done! Yep, you heard right. Done, as in finished, complete. By the end of this year, no less!! Well, the top anyway. I'm working on a Last Saturday Sampler that requires the monthly blocks be completed by the end of the next month, or I have to pay. I'd rather do this one for free,… Continue

I'm back

Posted on February 2, 2010 at 10:13am 4 Comments

It's been awhile since I last posted anything here at Quilt With Us - whether in my blog or in a group, but life has been so hectic, that I didn't have much time for anything other than some writing projects that I had to take care of. I am so far behind in my Sylvia's Bridal Sampler quilt that I may end up just using what I have (42 blocks) to make a lap quilt or something. Then again, I could just keep making them until I finally get them done in a few more years.

But anyway. I am… Continue

Hi Sheryl! Thank you so much for the compliment. I wish I could say that my SBS is finished....but truth is that it's only on my design wall and not stitched together yet. I am dragging DH with me after that to pick the border fabric. I showed him one I love, but he said it's too busy. HA HA HA Since it's for his dad, I think he should have to pick it and have a say in that.

It was so nice to see your posting on my page. I am happy to hear that you are doing well and still working on some quilt or other. I have started working on the Farmer's Wife Sampler now.....doing a block here and there when I have a spare moment. ;0) This one is going to be more me though which I have never ever done.

My mom passed away a couple of weeks ago, but I'm doing alright since she had been suffering from Alzheimers for some time. It was her wish to be cremated and no funeral.....she made that decision a long long time ago when she was still in her right mind so that's what happened.

Well you take good care and keep in touch! xoxox

If you don't want to use it in your SBS quilt it's alright! I don't mind it. It's yours to do with what you will! I am just happy that you like it so much! XOXOX
