Hi, Theresa.

Glad to have you in the business group. I hope you find it encouraging and supportive. Welcome!

Where is Bedford? I've been as far west as Clear Lake and Mason City.

Hi Theresa, I don't think we have met and we are really close neighbors! I am in Centerville, also on HiWay 2. You must have joined the group and I missed you. Sorry about that. You have a great Labor Day weekend!

Hey, Theresa...Shoot, Bedford's not THAT far away!!! Like you say, practically neighbors! I just LOVE your Baltimore album quilt. All that complicated/intricate applique combined with the simplicity of the rail fence setting...just perfect. It's a gorgeous quilt. Have you ever entered it in the state fair? It would win a ribbon for sure.

I really enjoy my small quilt circle group. It's about 10 - 15 of us that come together once a month for fabric or block exchanges, show and tell, demos and treats. Our quilt shop in Adel hosts the meetings, so with every show and tell item (and if we wear our home made name tags) we get our name in the drawing for a free yard of fabric and other give-aways that the owner has extras of. This coming Monday we are having a 'garage sale' of sorts where we bring books, patterns, notions, rulers that we don't want or use anymore and 'sell' them to someone that wants it. This is a first for this activity, so I'm not sure how it's going to work, but that's the fun of it. Do you have a quilt shop in Bedford? Or how far do you have to go? Maybe you can get the owner to head something up.

The shop owner also reserves the multi-purpose room at the library once a month for 'Open Sew'...It's no charge and we take our machines and projects to work on. Of course, there is a lot of visiting and checking out what every one else is working on! But it's a time to bond with other quilters...and good therapy!! That was yesterday, but I opted to go to the state fair and work on the donation quilts for kids. It was fun and I visited with lots of people. I sewed for about 4 1/2 hours. It's from noon till 5:00 every day.

What kind of embroidery machine do you have? And what kind of long arm? If I EVER get the basement in order (it has had leaking problems in the past) I would love to put a long arm there.

Well, better go. I have to meet friends today to start planning our high school class reunion next year.

Hi, Theresa. Thanks for the comments on my MC quilt. I think it is my most favorite! Right now I am working on a runner to match it- just using strips- no stars, but the same fabrics. I'll Post it when I am done.

Hi Theresa. Happy birthday a day late! Today is my mom's birthday, so you're one day apart.

I live in the country by Truro, southwest of Des Moines, and I drive to work in Johnston M - F. If the weather is bad, I can work from home. They're really flexible. I don't think I could work from home every day though. I need the social interaction of being in the office.

I worked at Principal from 1990 to 1996, in the Benefits Department for a while and then in the New Business Development area.

I hope you enjoy the Iowa group. We're a talkative bunch!

HI Theresa. I love the piecing on your sampler top. That must have taken forever to make! How are you going to quilt it?
Happy (late) b-day by the way, I haven't figured out how everyone finds out that information! Anyway, hope you had a good day yesterday.
It's too bad you don't live here in Altoona anymore. I would love to meet you.

Hi Teresa...Northwood is north-central IA, about 25 miles north of Mason City. We're just off I35, just below the IA/MN state line. It's a tiny town....2050 people. Now...where is Bedford?

Do you think you will be able to meet up with us in Des Moines in October?
