About Me
Greetings! I live in the Elmira, New York area which is in the beautiful Finger Lakes region. I've been married to my best friend for 34 years and love him more each day! We have 2 great kids - our DS is 32 and DD is 29. During the day I'm an Administrative Assistant and by night I quilt as much as I can! I've been sewing most of my life and quilting for about 10 years. When I'm not quilting I like to spend time with my family and friends, go camping and be outdoors.

Painting....

Posted on August 14, 2010 at 8:33am 5 Comments

Greetings!!! I'm painting my sewing room today, which I'm really excited about! It will be a sage green color with off white trim. I can't wait til I'm finished. Boy, moving all the stuff out of the room was a chore! I didn't realize (or didn't want to admit) that I had so much! When it is finished, I'm hoping to put less back than I took out as alot of the stuff belongs to my DD. She (or is it me?) hates to throw anything away so I'll probably put it in a couple of plastic bins and put it in… Continue

I just finished 2 of the Snap Happy Bags. They are alot of fun to do and easy too! What's everybody got going on this weekend? Not much going on here....I'm hoping to get some more sewing done. Of course there is the laundry and all that, but who feels like doing that? Not me, for sure!!! Vicki/NY

My aching back!

Posted on July 24, 2009 at 4:48am 3 Comments

Well, went to the dr. again the other day. I am still having leg pain that the dr. thinks will go away as my back continues to heal. I just need to keep doing the things that I have been doing and just lay low. I did get some hand quilting done; tried sitting at my machine last night and it worked out pretty good, so I think I'll try it again today. I bought a kit at my LQS with the pattern Strip Twist in it so I may try and cut that out today as well. My DH and DD have been very supportive and… Continue

Back Injury

Posted on July 21, 2009 at 6:17am 6 Comments

Well, today is another day home from work with a back injury. Sure wish I knew how I did it! I have never had back problems so this is all new to me. The pain has subsided somewhat but still have pain in my leg. I have a dr. appt. today so I will find out the results of my x-rays taken last Friday. Needless to say, with this back injury, I have been able to get alot of hand work done. My dear friend has offered to stitch the binding on a quilt that I just finished so that I can hand-stitch it.… Continue

Bride and Groom fabric

Posted on May 26, 2009 at 6:21pm 5 Comments

Hi everyone! This is the first time I've posted, so I hope all goes well.
My DS is getting married in a few weeks and I wanted to make them pillow cases using novelty bride and groom fabric. Has anyone out there seen any? I've looked at the LQS and the local Joann's but neither have any. The Joann's here is not a Joann's Etc.; maybe they have it?
Thanks! This is a wonderful group and I hope to get to know some folks in my area.
Vicki

Hi Vicki. I live about two hours south of you. In Bloomsburg. I have been to Elmira many times. Use to go to the flea market just before Elmira. It is long gone now. My SIL lives in Apalachin.

Vicki:  You will love Coastal Carolina.  There are 2 great fabric shops in Jacksonville and another one in Wilmington.  It is Fran's Sewing Circle on Oleander.  Don't miss them.  There is a lot to see and do in the Wilmington area.  How long will you be here?  Katie

I miss typed...it should have been beads of courage. The beads are given to each patient after a procedure. The bags are to keep the beads and necklaces in while they receive treatment. It is a way of showing friends and family what they have gone through during their ordeal of cancer or blood diseases. Have a wonderful Easter.

Vicki-the bags of courage are given out at the children hospital when they are admitted. Each procedure they receive a bead of a different color to add to their necklace. Makes the stress a lot less! Go to Beadsofcourage.org.
