About Me
I love to quilt. I am happily married to Mark for almost 30 years. We have 4 sons, 1 daughter in law, 5 cats & 1 dog.
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, applique, paper piecing, machine quilting, embroidery, general sewing, gardening

More about me!

I have 3 Berninas a 630,830 & 1300 MDC Serger. These are all fairly new to me so I am learning something new each time I use them. I have much more inspiration than time, but am lucky enough to be able to sew 2-3 days per week. I am working on a beautiful Christmas Batik - but have plenty of unfinished projects that need my attention too.
My cats keep me company in my sewing room, there is always 2 or more in here with me.
I am very new to computers, but needed to have 1 for my sewing machines so am having over load with all this new technology! My husband & sons are a big help with that part of it, thankfully.
I'm excited about the weather changing so I can get out to my garden soon.
Of our 4 sons, 2 still live at home. Our oldest is married and lives only 20 miles away. Our 2nd son lives next door so it is almost like he still lives at home! He works in our family business as does our 3rd son. Our 4th son is a 21year old with Down Syndrome, he works at Red Robin 2 mornings a week and loves life!
My husband and I will celebrate our 30th anniversary in November. I'm hoping we can go on a cruise, but will have to wait and see.
Well I think thats enough about me.

So our quilt guild is working on it by section and it should last us the whole year. But since I got the pattern way back. I have pieced all the 6 sections, cut out all the applique pieces with steam a seam lite fusible and has fused them to the background. I am getting ready to stitch the edges down. i will use zig zag with matching thread.

Vickie, My BOM has pieced background and applique. The quilt is divided into 6 sections or blocks. 3 blocks are 25" x 15" and 3 blocks are 20" x 15". each section/Block has applique. The scene is landscape. The top blocks has sun on one side and moon on the other. The middle blocks has purple mountains, trees and a house. The last blocks got flowers. I love the the flowers, just so cheery and happy.

So glad to know your son is doing well after his surgery. We are so blessed to have good doctors and medicine when we need them!

Hi Vickie,
I'm so sorry to hear about your son. I completely understand wanting to sleep so close, I'm the same when my girls are sick. I hope he finds relief and heals quickly after his surgery. Don't forget to take a some time for yourself, you need to look after you so you can look after him.
All the best,

Hi Vickie,
I'm still debating which pattern to do. I like two on Bonnie Hunter's website, the mystery Caroline Christmas and Cathederal Stars (http://www.quiltville.com/index.html) , as well as a log cabin from Judy Martin.... what to do?? I have to finish a UFO before I'm clear to start a new project, so will work on it this week. It's close to having borders put on. I seem to spend a lot of time here looking at quilts!! It doesn't help me decide, just gives me more on my wish list.
Hope all is well with you! Happy sewing.

Hi Vickie, thanks for the "friend" invitation. It's so nice to have people to chat with here that know what you're going through. When you get a chance, you should post some pictures of your work. I'd love to see your quilts.

Vickie, I noticed that you live in Wash State. I have an uncle that live in Ferndale, Wash. I have not had a contact with him or his family in 30+ years. The last time I saw him was World Expo in the 80s in Vancouver. We were in Vancouver last summer at the end of our Alaskan cruise.
