About Me
I am a mom to three adult sons and I am raising my 6 year old grandson. I love to garden, travel, cook and of course quilt and sew. I have been learning to quilt for the last 15 years. There are so many different techniques and styles of quilting that I think I will forever be a beginner. I love the art of quilting because there is always something new and exciting to discover. I love doing applique and the log cabin pattern is my favorite piecing pattern. I sell some of my items online to help with the extra expenses a little one brings.

Quilt, puppies and finding joy in life.

Posted on February 21, 2013 at 9:50pm 8 Comments

I finished my "Dancing Butterflies" quilt today. It was difficult for me to get back to sewing. I really had to push myself but once I got started I was lost in the hum of the sewing machine. It was a nice break from life for a little while. It has been a rough week for me. I've been on such an emotional roller coaster ride since the death of my sweet grandson. On a brighter note, my 6 new puppies are 5 weeks old and I had to build them a little pen outside so they can roam and play. They…

Ideas for Memorial Quilt for My Two Year Old Grandson

Posted on February 13, 2013 at 5:56pm 22 Comments

After not working on my quilting project due to a family emergency, I think I need to get back to it. I find sewing and quilting takes my mind off my thoughts and gives me some targeted direction. As soon as I finish my current project, I am going to design a memorial quilt for my grandson. I would love to hear some ideas from everyone on Quilt with Us. Colton, my grandson went home to be with Jesus last week. He was 2 and he loved Woody from Toy Story and he loved playing with trucks and…

My Quilted Life Pieces

Posted on January 18, 2013 at 7:31am 1 Comment

I love to quilt and I think a person's life is like a quilt, lived in little pieces that all come together to form who they are. Roles at home, on the job and in the community are fueled by opinions, emotions and experiences. All of these "pieces" of life fit together nicely at times but at other times they battle each other for ranking and can cause the pieces of who you are to not fit together so snugly. I'd like to get other people's views on how they think life is like pieces of a…

Quilting Again!

Posted on January 17, 2013 at 1:47pm 7 Comments

Hooray! I have finally gotten the chance to quilt again. It has been a very long time since I could start and finish a quilt project. My latest baby quilt, Fairy Dust, has shown me I am certainly out of practice. But I love the art of quilting, I am not going to complain if I have to re-learn a few skills and techniques.

Maybe none of my business your grandson passed away at 2yr old, why? An illness? Children should live much longer in my view.. Didn't have a chance at life.. My mother lost a baby 2 days old his lungs weren't formed properly..

But at 2 yrs. a great loss.

I had no clue what a mountain dulcimer is / looked like. So..as to not look like a total dummy...I looked it up. :-) Do you play it like a steel guitar, with a slide? Or like Jeff Healey plays his guitar? Or am I way off? Looks like a really cool instrument to play. What does it sound like?
I played a flute in Jr High but the only thing I remember is how to hold it!

Hope you enjoy them and are blessed by them like I am.

Thanks for asking me to be a "friend" of yours, Victoria! I'm still learning what that means--can you give me any clues? I just read your blogs above--you have been through a lot lately! So sorry that your dad went so quickly and that you didn't have a chance to spend more time with him. I will keep you in my prayers as you heal. Quilting helps a lot with that.
It sounds like your life is very busy, especially with a little one in the house! Take good care of yourself! Carol :)
