About Me
My name is Yvonne and I am a stay at home wife. I have 2 boys that are married with wonderful wives and blessed with 3 beautiful grandchildren. (2 girls/1 boy). I am married to a wonderful country guy. We love to go camping in the summer and to pass the time when he's at work, I love to quilt. My grandmother was a avid quilter but unfortunately I only discovered it about 3 years ago. I am a simple quilter as I am visually impaired, but I love it and do it any time I have the chance. I love the feel of fabric and my husband often laughs at me as I also smell it and say "this is going to make a beautiful project!" Anyway, that's pretty much me, simple, but love life and live it everyday to the fullest.

Another gift finished....

While most of you are busy getting ready for your Thansgiving holiday I have been busy working on my Chistmas gifts. I finished this Table/Wall Quilt with some 5 inch squares I had, and, a picture of this little jem that I had cut out of a magazine somewhere. It was touch and go at times since I didn't have a pattern but considering all, I like it. Not sure who it is going to, but it will be another off my list ...lol

This one's for me.. :-)

I took a break of making things for others for Christmas and made this door hanging just for me! LOL This past Friday I stopped into one of our local quilt shops and saw this pattern. I fell in love with it instantly! It was a must have!!!! I couldn't wait to make it. You may not be able to see the decorations real well but I added some rusty bells, made some knots with red plaid fabric and added some buttons to decorate the tree. It's a little rustic, just the way my house is decorated! Now I'm… Continue

Hi everyone,

Hey there, just wanted to say hello to all of you out there. It's a busy time of year for me getting the Christmas gifts made and getting ready to get away for the winter. Having my parents live with me makes going away a little more tricky and planning is a must. They stay behind (76 and 80 yrs) but hiring for snow removal, etc.. and making sure other family come and check on them since we live in the country is a must. I'm a little more concern this year as dad is loosing his balance more and… Continue

My Christmas list is getting shorter...

Hey everyone,
Hubby was busy tonight, so I thought I'd try another bag with some left over drapery fabric I had. I added my ruffler foot on my machine and gathered at every stitch to see what I could do with it. After playing with the fabric I came out with this little cutie. I lined it with the same coordinating fabric that was left over also. The lining is in a sac form therefore should not open the pleats more than what you see on the picture. I was kind of fun to see how it was going to come… Continue

I'm really happy with the projects since I didn't have any patterns to make them with... I just let my third eye do the job for me...LOLOL... Take a look, I have them posted in my page.... Hi Yvonne! Have a great trip to Arizona and a great time exploring this new area. We have never been there, but a lot of Canadians from out west spend the winter in Arizona. Have fun exploring the deep south along the way - lots of Cajuns in southern Louisiana. We are discovering new places all the time. The drive along the gulf coast is supposed to be very nice. Have a safe trip and make sure to keep in touch with us along the way. You'll probably discover a lot of neat quilt shops along the way. Are you taking some quilting along with you??? lol
Have a great week !!!

Cornwoman lives in the greater Phoenix area. I am sure she could share with you some great things to do and see. She is a great gal.

Are you referring to the big glass horseshoe shaped walkout at the GC? That is way to the west of the main entrance at the South Rim. It will cost $75-$100 to do if, if I recall, for entrance fee and then the special fee to walk out there. At the South Rim there are wonderful views that cost no more than the park entrance fee, and ones that I think you would be comfortable with, for the most part. It is spectacular. My favorite area is the North Rim, but it is closed during the winter months. It's all fabulous.

Good for you and DH to not put off something you've wanted to do. I hope you have a wonderful time there. There is much to do and see. Sure hope you do the trip to the Grand Canyon -- it's great in winter too. Check the schedule of the Grand Canyon Railroad and if you can take that trip out of Williams it is really fun. The GC is great when there is snow on the ground, too. In January there is a big quilt show in Tucson. I'm not sure what all quilt wise goes on in Yuma, but am sure you will find some great things there. It will be quite an adventure for you!

I think it's great you get to make that trip. Some day I would like to drive this route I've been doing for 2 yrs. in a car! I guarantee I'd be spending more time off the interstate than on it ....looking around at all the things I can't in this big rig! LOL What I do in 4 days now would probably take me 4 months. Hope you have a good time and remembering you in my prayers to have a SAFE trip. Can't wait to hear about all the treasures you acquire at the quilt shops along the way.

We were in the Phoenix area for four years before DH's last layoff and our subsequent move to Washington state. I never made it to Yuma, but met some gals from there at a Bible Study. It will be quite different scenery for you! Enjoy!

Yvonne: On your way to Jacksonville FL in Dec. consider stopping at Garden City GA right off of Interstate 95...exit 109 then onto GA 21 S. Sew Much More is the Quilt shop.
I work there part time (on sick leave at present) and can guarantee the nicest, friendliest staff and of course, customers. We have so much to offer....classes, fabric, notions, patterns, etc. WE are not that far off of I-95 and look forward to seeing you!!!! Have a safe trip! JaneD.

I hadn't realized it was Yuma where you are going to "winter". I was thinking Florida. I wish I were back in Arizona, at least for the winter. We lived there 4 years before moving back to the Northwest. I so enjoyed the sunshine and warmth (not the extreme heat, but that was sewing time so it worked out great), and my health improved with it too. Safe driving. Be on the lookout for Laurie! Wouldn't it be fun to meet up with her along the way?!

Yvonne, it was fun to do. Thanks for the compliment. You have been a busy beel too! So many beautiful bags for Christmas. You will make a lot of people very happy. I have to switch gear and start on Christmas projects.
I read in one of your blogs that you are heading south for the winter. Florida???
Are you going after the holidays or leaving very soon?
Once my DH retires and we move back to Canada, we hope to become snow birds also. Cooler summers and warmer winters - how great would that be....
Have a great quilting week my friend!!! Ginette
