In the Meanwhile...

1. After getting many great ideas for David's quilt I finally did not feel overwhelmed and knew how I was going to proceed, what a relief and I am using all the ideas I was given.

2. However, once his items all arrived as excited as I was to get going, I find I am not yet ready to start cutting.

3. Project postponed.
(I wish I could reverse the situation for a while so he could see how lousy this feels)

I have the notions ready to go so and this site for inspiration, so on to another p… Continue

Any memorial quilt pattern ideas, people?I need

On Tuesday I will be receiving all of my boyfriends possessions. He died suddenly, a few weeks ago. He was showing no signs of anything wrong, had normal BP and cholesterol and all of that, but just out of the blue he had a stroke and never recovered consciousness. People keep telling me he should have survived because he was only, 40, but I wish people would stop saying that. lol

Anyway David's death is why after many years I have decided to pick up quilting again. I want to make a memorial qu… Continue

I went to other site. Your age is 108 years old. Wow you look only what 107? Different picture as well. SO ~ Did I do something wrong. Okey the world is flat and I fell off the edge. I must say I too love the Temptations. I love all kinds of music but Motown is my favorite. No that's not true. I am a mood music person whatever I am listening to is my favorite. I just listen to ModTown more. You might not what to hear this but the Bible tells us He knew us in our mother's womb. There is no mistake that your boyfriend lived the same amount of time that we will all live. The rest of our lives. If he didn't do any thing to help himself along, drugs, drinking or wild lifestyle. He died when he should of at the prefect time. The only question I would ask you is WHY did he come into your life? There was an important reason, it might be small but important. I remember a person I knew that pointed out to me Baby's Breath flowers. Up to that point they came with the Roses that were so lovely. The Rose was the star! He told me every time you see this remember me, a small flower that makes the Rose even more lovely. He died of a brain tumor. For the first 5 years I would look at the tiny flower and remember him, the next 5 years I noted what a small amount of time he was in my life. The next 20 years I took notice of people who spend a small amount of time in my life. The girl that cleans the bathrooms at the air port and so on. What did your boyfriend leave you to hold forever?

Addie I am new to this group site and when I read your blog I decided I had to write you. I have a dear childhood friend that lost her husband last year and I had her send me his shirts and ties when she felt she was ready to do so. I designed and made her a quilt out of his belongings and it brought me just as much comfort working on it as it did her when she received it. I'm getting ready to make another quilt for my brother in law who just passed away. When my son in law's mother passed away I made him a quilt out of her shirts and to this day he snuggles under it and feels her presense. Good luck with your's and I hope you will share it with everyone.

Quilting helped me overcome the loss of a loved one. I spent many days and nights remembering and grieving over a beautiful quilt I would not trade for anything in the world. I know there are others who have had the same experience and as difficult as it is, it does get easier. Good luck with your memorial quilt and keep me posted on how you are doing.
