I have been commissioned to make a Family Rules baby quilt for my niece, who is gifting it to a friend. The problem I ran into was that I couldn't find any fabric with this popular trend. what to do? Well i went ahead and designed some. Thanks to spoonflower.com I had my design printed, and the results are fantastic.
This particular design is my aged background.
If anyone would like to obtain some of this fabric you can visit my spoonflower shop found…

I just wanted to extend an invitation for any that may have missed the earlier blogpost.... Bonnie K. Hunter of Quiltville.com is a wonderful quilter/ designer/ author who has many free patterns available on her website, but every year she releases an upcoming quilt from a future book as a mystery quilt. The fabric requirements are already available and they can be found here …

I just finished up a Unfinished Object .... This one is Called "Diamonds Galore". I decided to put a scalloped border on it, (which was the first time I had done one) stitching the binding on to the edge was more time consuming than I thought it would be, but stitching it to the back went about as quickly as normal. I think it came out cute. I will likely make some shams and some curtains with the blocks/fabric I have left.…

Sorry wrong spelling of your name Cate.
Hello Kate,
How lovely you have been able to recruiters your mum to this very engaging hobby. we visited Canada a year ago and had a wonderful time, a country of contrasts for sure. bye for now, happy quilting. Marianne
Hi Cate,
Thanks for the info on the "tweet" pattern, I went ahead and purchased a copy, gotta love Etsy. I belong to an applique group that meets once a month. The hostess has a beautiful house on a lake and we sit at the kitchen table with our "hand work", a great view of the lake. So I thought I would use the pattern/one of the squares for a table runner/centerpiece for her table. I was thinking of using different colors, though I know the pattern lends to the pastels. She is redecorating her kitchen and last meeting, showed us her new palate, makes me think hmmmmmm???
Thanks again. Joy
Thanks for the info. I have her newest BOMs saved in my favorites - the first two are just too cute!. Guess I should have looked further into her website.
Thanks again!
Hi Cate.. I have one more question.... what kind of thread do you use for your hand appliqueing - all purpose, cotton or silk? I watched a tutorial on Youtube where she said to use silk thread; then I asked a hand appliquer in the guild I belong to and she said that she uses all purpose (her appliques are GORGEOUS!! - can't even see the stitches) so now I don't know what to use - I'm so confused. I have a quilt that I've been working at off and on for a couple of years - started with machine applique but I'm not happy with it so thought I'd try hand applique. We have a machine appliquer coming to teach an invisible applique with invisible thread class, but that's not til August; I really don't want to wait that long.
I think your my tweets is so precious You do beautiful applique work. Is it needle turn?
Thank you for your kind words about my sampler quilt. I have become hooked on samplers since this quilt. They are so much fun, where every block is different. It sure isn't boring.
Your work is gorgeous, especially the applique.
Hi Cate ;
