New CT Fabric

Posted on October 23, 2011 at 12:00pm 6 Comments

i can't believe where this year has gone.  So much has happened since I last posted on the site.  My niece Katrina finally had a healthy baby boy on the 27 of April, my son has gone to Scotland for 6 months and is now home.  My oldest daughter graduated from University in June and is now preparing to leave for South Korea where she will spend a year teaching English.  Hubby has spent many a week away from home this spring and summer working (some of which I accompanied him to).  We have…

My Katrina Update

Posted on March 23, 2011 at 7:17pm 4 Comments

It has been a long day for the family.  I just got off the phone with my sister-in-law.  My niece came through the surgery still pregnant which is what we all hoped for.  It was touch and go through the six hour stint.  They did not manage to all of what they wanted but enough to get her healthier and out of pain.  Her uterus has attached itself to part of the bowl that needs to be removed but cannot be accessed right now.  It was touch and go with some bleeding issues because of this as…

Request for Prayers

Hello to all in QWU land.  Since about this time last year my visit to the site have been hit and miss.  Keeping up when life runs smooth takes some effort.  And we all knows what happens when curves develope in the roads of our lives.  Something gives (usually those associated with glue of the family MOM).  This year has been up and down for me with wonderful bit of travel with family, to a fall that has left very little quilting or quilting related activities for me.  I had taken a fall in…

Where to go?

Posted on August 31, 2010 at 9:29pm 6 Comments

I need some help to make a decission on where to go next week for our aniversary vacation. We had planned on Hawaii but I didn't get my poop together and book the island cruise and they are now sold out (last year at this time there were lots of trips to book). So that idea is out the window. DH wants to do Cuba (Varadaro) but with storms not sure if it is okay this time of year and he seems to think the cabo side of mexico is okay. We have already been to both Cabo and Puerto Vallarta so he… Continue

When the Cat's away!

Posted on July 13, 2010 at 5:57am 12 Comments

Do you ever wonder what your family would do without you? I'm not even gone a full 12 hours and I've got a honey do list. I'm sitting at supper when my cell phone rings. It's my next door neighbor, apparently no one is answering our door bell at the house so he calls me. One of our trees has decided to die and in the process took out a car, our new to us old truck and just missed the new to us old camper. DH is probably still sleeping as it is only 530 pm and he doesn't leave for work until… Continue

Christi, hi!!..you asked about my last name Holm..my husband's family are from Holm,Norway! We have done some of the Genealogy..and discovered that our real name is Erickson...when the family came to Ellis Island, 1865....they wanted a new name for their new country..they chose Holm..to remind them where they came from..then moved on the Minnesota..and were pioneers traveling West..to Seattle..a place that reminded then of
Norway.

Thanks for stopping by my "dad's toolbox" blog.  It's been frustrating, finding out that dad didn't want any of us kids to receive any of his tools.  So many fond memories are tied into those tools.  Even a hammer would bring back happy thoughts that are tied to my dad.

Christi -I told you wrong.  I went back to check and then asked my husband.  They are screwed on from the top side down.  He used a countersink bit so the screw heads were flush with the top.

Christi - about the furring strips on my long ironing board, they are just screwed on.  The screws are just long enough to secure the strips to the board, but not long enough to poke through to the top side of the board.   I don't think he used glue at all.

Christi--thanks for the info on Amaze--I've never seen it, but having heard it mentioned several times here, I'm going to have to hunt it down and try it.  i wound uup getting this particular stain out by rubbing it with a vinegar soaked cloth and then with water---I was so thankful!.  Thanks again!

thank, Christi--that's a good idea.  I quickly found that the design wall won't work just hung on hooks in my fabric closet.  I did find that i have enough room to put it up behind on of the doors (did I mention i have limited wall space in my sewing room?), so I may just hang it there.  I'm so bogged down in finishing up some projects right now that I don't when I will need it to start something new anyway.  Happy New Year to you, and happy quilting!
