About Me
I am married for 44 yrs to my handsome husband and we have 2 beautiful daughters. I am a very novice quilter but I keep practicing. Who knows? Maybe someday I will be able to sew in a straight line! Love material! Have been known to purchase a beautiful color without any idea what I am going to do with it. lol I am saving it up for retirement.
As of 10/2012 I am officially retired! Yay for me! Now my time is truly my time. If I want to get up at 9am, sit in my PJs, drink coffee and read the paper I can. When the weather is bad I can look out the window and think how beautiful it is. Now, let me put this time to good use and work on that sewing a straight line!
Hobbies and Interests

Cutter needed

Posted on September 27, 2014 at 8:47am 10 Comments

My DH and I went to a quilt show a few weeks ago. There were a lot of beautiful antique quilts that I enjoyed looking at. And guess what! They were not all perfect. There were mistakes and it made me feel so much better. I don't have to achieve perfection when I quilt. Who knew?

One of the booth's had cutting forms that mystified me. Somehow they held onto the fabric and could be moved without the fabric falling off. Pieces could be cut perfectly. The cutting table was hydraulic and…

October 25th Amish Country get together

Posted on September 8, 2014 at 2:02pm 5 Comments

The Ohio Quilters group is planning a get together in Amish country on October 25th. We are meeting at Der Dutchman restaurant at 11:30-12:00. We are planning a stash swop and show and tell during lunch along with plenty of chatting and getting to know one another. Then we plan on going to a few quilt shops for, of course, shopping! We are planning on having a great time and if any of you want to join us you are certainly welcome. You can even bring your sewing friends if you like. You do…

Antique fair

Posted on August 4, 2014 at 10:03am 11 Comments

Yesterday my husband and I went to the Zoar Harvest festival. We toured the old houses, gardens, and craft booths. We looked through the antique dealers tent and I spotted a couple old sewing machines. They were child sized and so nice but no way could I manage the price tags! I do like to collect thimbles and saw a few I liked but again the price tags made me grit my teeth in frustration. I guess I'll go back to garage sales. I do adore a good deal. What are the chances I'll be able to find…

Learning new tricks

Posted on July 31, 2014 at 12:39pm 5 Comments

Who says an old dog can't learn new tricks? It has only taken me 2 hours but I managed to download pictures of my latest quilt and also some pictures of two totes I made. I am so proud of myself! Now if I could just remember how I did it. I am sure I did it the round about way but I managed all by myself. My kids would be so proud of me!

It takes so little

Posted on July 30, 2014 at 8:53am 6 Comments

I just got done redoing my page and what a blast it was! I am a bright color person and I really laid it on. If anyone can't read it please let me know so I can change it. I felt like a little kid with a big box of crayons. It takes so little to make me excited.

Today I plan on taking one more round of quilting stitches on my daughter's quilt and I will finish up the pillow I made her out of the scraps. Then I hope to post some pictures. My next project will be a full sized strip…

Missing a few inches

Posted on July 19, 2014 at 8:32am 6 Comments

I am about half way thru my quilt as you go quilt. Looking at it I think I am missing about 3 inches on each side! I am piecing the top pieces onto the batting and back material and I don't think I have enough for my pieces to fit. AND I missed the middle! Drat! I measured so carefully and marked the middle but things are a little lopsided. Good grief Charlie Brown. I told my DH the next time I measure he is going to have to help me. Then I can blame him instead of me. Hee hee. Well I think…

Doin' the dance of joy!

Posted on July 6, 2014 at 1:11pm 10 Comments

Ladies, I got a new sewing machine! It is a Brother Dream Creator. It sews, quilts and embroiders. It has so many decorative stitches that it will take me a year to try them all. I am just so excited about it! It is just what I wanted and thought I would never be able to afford. A special "thank you" goes out to Somewhere Sewing and another goes out to Carol for recommending them to me. I got a wonderful deal. Got the 2 receiving blankets done and also the ruffled purse for my daughter…

Decision time

Posted on June 24, 2014 at 8:06am 12 Comments

I have decided to bite the bullet. I am going sewing machine shopping this Friday. I have my budget figured out and the amount I will be able to spend. I have my list of features I want. I will  have my husband at my side so he can hold me back if I decide to go crazy. He manages to keep my feet firmly planted in reality. I am so excited I feel like a kid at Christmas. I will keep all of you posted on my progress!

Hello  Yes, I will post a picture of my charm table topper. I finished it today It's cold here, too. My daughter, Susan, is home from Winchester, VA - had a few days break from school and teaching - she's going back tomorrow - leaving in the morning to try to beat the snow that is supposed to be coming. I'm glad you like your sewing room.

Keep warm - Hugs, Becky C.

Hello there quilting friend :) How are you today? I hope wonderful! I'm doing good. How do you like your new sewing room? It's nice to have a great place to sew. I am making a winter table topper - just from charm packs - I have it almost done. Did the stitching in the ditch last night around each square to sewing the binding on - have a little more to do and it will be done. I'm trying to get some of my projects completed this year. Had our quilt group on Thursday. We made a little basket - cute! How is your weather? it's 42 degrees out here - sunny (we don't get lots of sun in the winter) so it looks and makes a person feel better. Have a wonderful day! Becky C.

Hi Cinderella , I now have a sewing room in the basement, but it 's bright and cheery, but remember when it was in the corner of our bedroom, then the dining room, then the family room and now a nice room in the basement next to my husband's train room LOL. I usually do some sewing while I'm doing laundry. I'm working on a square table covering made from winter charm squares. I'm basting it now and will just stitch in the ditch to quilt it and then add a binding. It's very cold and windy here - keeping warm. Hugs, Becky

Good to hear from you! Yes we had a very Merry Christmas - all my girls and spouses/boyfriends were home. Had a great time just being with them. I am still working on marking the Irish Chain quilt top - worked on it last night for almost 2 hrs. only half marked. I will work on it again tonight. One of the ladies in my quilt group said I can bring it to her house and we'll lay it on the pool table she has to sandwich it with the batting and backing and baste it. So, I want to get it done marking soon. What are you working on. HAPPY NEW YEAR - Becky
