About Me
i am an artist and have worked in multimedia. i love dogs (have three of them), music, dancing, movies, to name a few things. i tend to be a loner and can spend days entertaining myself :) although i began sewing as a child i have done very little in the way of quilting. i have been wanting to start quilting but for some reason have this fear of starting. i know, doesn't really make sense. the fear part has to do with choosing what patterns of fabric to put together. the actual sewing part doesn't scare me. so, i thought this would be an ideal way to break thru the fear. also, i really look forward to having contact with other quilters

Hi donna, it's nice to meet you. I didn't have a fear of quilting as much as avoiding it like the plague. I equated it with sewing which I am awful at. My mom drug me to a quilt class kicking and screaming...and I fell in love. I haven't stopped since. I hope you have gotten your courage up to try a project or two.

Hello Donna, thankyou for your comments on portrait of a friend. Was the first portrait that I did from a photo & I was not sure how it would turn out, but when I finished it, was happy with the results, so I did another one!!!Hope you got over your fear & have made a quilt. I find the quilting part relaxing, though I do get a little upset when the pieces don't want to do what I want!!!!!!

I know the computer stuff can be challenging! When I worked all we had to do was pick up the phone and someone would come online (they were in the hospital but would "take over" your computer) and fix it! Sure miss that. Will look forward to your photos.
Moving is a big thing and to move so far! When is that happening for you? Glad you will have family near you when you do!! Keep in touch. j

Sending you a friend request and hope you will accept it. If you ever have any questions about techniques, feel free to contact me. I have many, many web links that I've saved over the past few years covering many different techniques and will be happy to share them along with my personal knowledge.

Hi Donna. I, too, am mostly a loner...I have 2 dogs, Maggie and Brie. I also know the "breaking thru the fear" stage of starting something new. I do that with every project. Maybe if I did them more often, I could "just do it". I'm trying out a new techinque...quilt first, then color over the raised quilting with fabric ink and Derwent Inktense pencils. Quilted a small piece last night and will color today. Thank you for your kind comment on my quilt "Changing".

Hi Donna thanks for the comment on the back fabric of this quilt I have wrapped around me. Your so right it does look a little 3D, the eagles seem to pop out. I LOVE, LOVE THE EAGLES, on the flag. Well I hope you can make some quilts soon, I'm sure you would do very well. You might want to start with a small project. I haven't been quilting for very long but just love all the beautiful fabric and tend to get inspired when I see it. You might also think about taking a class that is a great way to start. Take care and we hope to see your little pets photos soon and some little projects of yours. God Bless

Thank you Donna - for the compliment on the "wedding announcement". It was fun to digitize and fun to make. I appreciate the compliment.

Hi Donna, Thanks ever so much 4 ur comments on my 'Mama says' quilt. I did enjoy making that. I have a friend in the States that made the same quilt with me, and we r now making a Christmas stitcheries quilt called 'Believe' by Bronwyn Hayes also. Making a quilt with a friend does make it a little bit more of a challenge, but I do also have others half way through, very busy. If u want the stitcheries, just let me know. I, 2 love quilting, just somewhere on the way in the cuting out then getting the fabric pieces in the right spot or cut out right, just yells out 4 helpppp. so, I guess I like quilting with a friend around 2 let it all flow just right. By making the stitchery blocks 1st, it certainly gives u that inspiration 2 get it all 2gether. Do have a lovely day in the Summer days u now have. We r heading 4 a pretty cold Winter , we have had a few frosts already, looks like we will be heading 4 some wet blustery days leading up2 the next weekend. We r about 16 degrees right now, our average temps r about 19,20,21 when we start getting warmer weather about Christmas time. Well bye now and thanks again.
Kind Regards
Crisy in NZ
