About Me
I'm a wife, mother, and full time pastor of a small (160 member) church. I love to quilt and teach quilting weekly through the fall and winter months. I also drive a motorcycle, love to read and to visit with girlfriends over a steaming cup of coffee. Summer is my favourite time of year, though I've also lived in the Arctic in the past and loved that too. Other pass times, are writing, watching romantic comedies, walking or hiking.

International Women's Day

Posted on March 8, 2010 at 5:13am 2 Comments

What are you doing to celebrate this day?! I am trying to regroup after 2 incredibly busy weeks. This past week, a family in my church was hit with a barn fire. It's a dairy farm and so they took quite the hit personally and financially. I have never been so close to a barn fire before -- to watch it go up in smoke, to stand with the family in such a time of crisis and then to see the farming community and church community rally -- all the hours of extra help for this family -- wow --to see… Continue

Back to the routines!

Posted on February 20, 2010 at 5:30am 5 Comments

From Monday to Wednesday, I had the privilege of traveling "Up North" a few hours with a couple of friends. We stayed in a little Bed and Breakfast, spent time snow shoeing, and exploring the Bruce Trail. It was wonderful to just 'get away'.... No cooking, no responsibilities, no pressure, and lots of laughter and conversations.

Thursday and Friday I spent most of my time in my quilting room, reorganizing (does any one do that to just 'be' in your sewing room, even if…

A Week Off!

Posted on February 12, 2010 at 2:30pm 6 Comments

I can't believe it! I'm taking a week off of work. I have so much overtime in, and unused vacation time and I've been soooo tired lately, that I need to just simply stop and rest. I work full time, and the type of work (pastor) is at times, very draining. Then to run a household, have a hubby who is doing a PHD, and three teenagers who need 'rides' to their events (or at least sharing vehicles with the oldest) makes for a very stretched home life. Just the other day I thought, times sure have… Continue

quilt top - not quilted yet

Posted on February 8, 2010 at 2:44pm 15 Comments

Here is my Sweetwater Authentic quilt top -- it's King Size.... and I haven't yet decided how I'll quilt it, but hope to have it quilted before summer so I can take it to the cottage with me. I'll post two pictures -- one, on the bed and also one just being held. Big blocks, fun fabric, gorgeous 'edgy' fabrics, simple pattern... it'll fit perfect at the cottage which is very simple decor, etc.…

Hi Ellie. Thankyou for the friend invite. I enjoyed doing the cat on the red and white blocks.
You have some very nice quilts in your album. You do nice work.
I did a couple of new blocks for my quilt guild. They are the Ohio Star and the Bear Claw. They are in my picture album.
Some time if I am ever in your area, I would love to meet you.

Ellie, the Scripture quilt has my friends name and the reference to their favorite scripture. Mine was Jeremiah 15:16.

Thanks Ellie, for the comments on my quilts. I usually quilt in the early AM, but occasionally at night. It's a balancing act. Mostly, I think about it!! I LOVE quilt books/magazines and keep a stack beside the bed, its great to wind down with before sleeping. I love your photos and look forward to seeing more of your quilts.

Hi Ellie. Nice to meet you. I'm so glad to have a friend who has a lot of experience with quilting. Yes, there is some great fabric here in Indonesia, especially the traditional "batik" fabric. It would be great if you could share some of your quilting techniques and experience with me.

Hi Ellie, yes Snickers is a yorkiepoo. Not sure how much yorkie but definitely poo (ha). Just before his last haircut he had this 3 inch strip down his back and it definitely looked like yorkie. He is almost totally white and this strip was a beige/brown. It looked so funny. Glad to have my poo back (ha).
