What sells raffle quilt tix?

Posted on November 22, 2014 at 9:09am 8 Comments

My guild has been having steadily declining sales of tickets for our raffle quilt for the past 8 years or so.  I believe there was a small upward bump one year when we did a paper pieced star quilt that was all blue and green batiks.  Another small bump came when we did a sampler quilt with traditional colors/fabrics.

This led us to have a discussion wondering what elements of a quilt tend to attract…

20" of snow on our deck this AM and another 4" to 8" predicted for today with lots of high winds to blow it all around.  DH and I have been tag-team shoveling since 8:30 AM (only one shovel) and have finally reached the cars.  Looks like the plow guy did one quick pass and left.  Sheesh.

I am finally officially ready for spring.

In the winter?

Driving home from work tonight and slogging through the partially plowed streets while snow falls furiously, the sky lit up and blinded me (just for a sec), followed by a big boom!  Thunder and lightning in a snowstorm?  Who'da thunk it?

Thank you for the compliment on my Ruffled Roses quilt.   I subscribe to The Quilt Show (thequiltshow.com,) and the pattern was offered to subscribers free as a block of the month for 2011. I don't know if it is still available there, but here is a link that offers it for sale.  http://www.quakertownquilts.com/blocks-of-the-month/susan-garman.html?p=2      Your quilts are wonderful!  I really enjoyed looking at them.

Yes.  We got about 2 inches of snow but then Freezing Rain which is worse.  Lots of places (including my work for the first time in 11 years that we have been here) closed for a day.  Too treacherous driving on ice with no equipment to help clear it until it melted.  Funny year and Funny Weather!

WOW  My sister lives in Jericho and I was up there last October to visit her.  I did the rounds of the quilt shops in E. Jct and maybe Taft's Corner (June Bugby's shop).  We had lots of fun.  She is a quilter also but not as much because she now has macular degeneration and it is affecting her abilities. Tough stuff.  Hope I never get that.  You guys sure have been having snow this winter!

I loved your pictures and I'm so glad you've shared them.  What do you dry them on, cheesecloth?  I've put mine on a cooling cookie rack.

Ginger,

Thank you so much for the recipe. It sounds so good. My parents had family in Poland and whenever they came to US they always brought the mushrooms from Poland. Oh.. they were the best. Haven't had those in years. Have a great day, and again thank you and your mom for sharing your recipe.

Ginger, I remember making 200-300 pierogies. Can you give me your mushroom recipe, that sounds so good. The dough must of been just right for them not to stick to the table. It's such a fun day with no expectations but broken pierogies.
