I am a Christian, will have been married 40 years come this July, and mother of 2 children. I live in the beautiful rural mountains of West Virginia. My children both live in Virginia, and I have 2 grandchildren.
I began quilting in the late 70's, and fell in love with it. I learned to quilt around an old time frame, at our churches sewing circle. That Circle is still in existance, but no longer quilts, as i am the only hand quilter left in the group. I also love teaching others to quilt, and I am involved in the quilter's guild in our closest town.
We live in an old Mennonite church, that is just over 100 years old, which we remodeled. There is even a cemetery attached, of which I am the volunteer caretaker!
I have a sewing room which is just big enough to hold my treadle sewing machine, which belonged to my husbands grandmother, and my own quilting frame, an old handmade wooden one, that the quilt rolls up on. I have spent many hours in that room at that frame, and I enjoy listening to audio books while quilting.
I enjoy making the more traditional quilt patterns, as well as 30's fabrics. And i don't think there is anything better than sleeping under one of my own quilts on a cold. snowy winters night!

I do try and keep busy working on my quilts. I have a lot of tops of mine and also my mothers so I try and do at least a little each day. This is our hot and humid time of the year so it's nice to be in the air. I walk and do anything outside early.
Hello Jill, I love your quilts, how talented. Your home sounds quite unique, I think I have been in your part of the country a few years ago, it was beautiful. Look forward to seeing more of your quilts in the future.
I didn't participate, but I do love the dresden plate block. Hope this helps.
I am still plugging away on hand quilting my daughter's Double Wedding Ring. I only have the outside rings to go - half of the second to the last row and all of the outside row. I'm hoping to have that done by December. I'd like to do some gift projects, but the DWR has priority right now.
Thanks for the compliments on my Hawaiian quilt. I really enjoyed making it. Going to start another small applique project. I love doing applique in the summer, its just too warm to be under a wool quilt.
