About Me
I have been quilting for about 3-1/2 years now, so I am really still a beginner! Lately, it has become a true passion, and now that I have a dedicated sewing area, I try to squeeze in sewing time every day if possible! I get inspired by looking at other quilters' creations.

question about interfacing

I want to make some handbags/totes, and I'm also about to finish off a quilted flag to hang in our foyer. It is a 2-sided flag (one side Halloween fabric, the other is a fall/harvest leaf fabric). So, I can't just put on a hanging sleeve. I would like to have some fabric strips - about 4 or 5 of them - coming out from the top as loops. So, I guess they would just be like really short pieces of tote bag straps. Anyhow, my question is about interfacing! I have never used it, have no idea what it l… Continue

Blue & White 9-patch done!

Got the borders on last night and now am heading off to finish making the backing, binding, and cut the batting. This quilt is a Christmas gift for my husband's cousin. Thanks again to those who gave feedback yesterday!

border fabric "audition"

I'm about to put outer borders on my blue and white 9-patch quilt. I only really have enough of 1 fabric to do the outer borders, and may use it as binding as well. I posted a picture on my page if anyone wants to give their thoughts on it.

I really do not want to order more fabric (well, I do want to, but you know, budget restrictions!) - I think I have been looking at the quilt top too long and need some "fresh eyes"! Thanks!

Binding tools

Has anyone here tried the binding tools called "Zip Bind" and/or "Stitch-N-Ditch Binding Foot" by Martelli? I really want to do bindings by machine without the hand stitching to the back. I have been practicing on a scrap quilt and have figured out something that works, but I'm wondering if any of these would help me to be more accurate with catching the binding completely. I tried stitching the binding to the back and then turning it over to stitch along the edge of the binding on the front, bu… Continue

Finished my quilt top!

I just finished my Indigos Around quilt top and it is even more beautiful than in the catalog! I made it a bit bigger than the original pattern (picture on my page). This is the first quilt I'm making specifically for me. All the other quilts I've made have been gifts or wall hangings or just to have around as a throw. It will be a while before it gets quilted as I really need to make 3 more quilt tops for Christmas. By the time I finish those tops, hopefully my DH will have built my table for m… Continue

Hi Kristine, thanks for the comment, I have made 2 of these and have the fabric to make a couple more. This is a fun quilt to make, however, the paisley's are somewhat hard so for the last one I had it meandered. I am determined to learn how to meander and with Gods help I know all things are possible!! Thank you for your friend request, I look forward to sharing. I went to your website and realize you are my sister-in-Christ, which sent me over the edge with joy!!!! I look so forward to sharing quilting with you and the love of our Lord!!! I copied off the blog, Love Never Fails by Marty Goetz. What an awesome article and He lives here in Nashville. How awesome is that!! God Bless You today!! Linda

Kristine,
I didn't applique it, a customer did, I quilted it, but I've done applique. If you can, take a class from an experienced appliquer. This particular quilt is fused wool on cotton and is machine appliqued. Don't shy away from it, it isn't hard

Good morning! Sorry I took so long in replying to your nice comments on my Mom's Indigo quilt. Thank you. Yes, I did download the label, the blue square with the flower in the right corner. I used the June Taylor fabric sheets. As for the lettering I just used a card making program I have on my laptop for the text. My Mom noticed how I had made the label look like a little quilt also. So, you enlarged yours. Have you decided how you will quilt it? To me, that's the hardest part, the decision on how to and what to do on the top.
Have a great day and Happy 4th of July. Diane

From looking at your quilts, I cannot believe you have only been quilting for 3 1/2 years. These are great! I especially love the blue and white nine patch that you have just finished. You do beautiful work!

Thank you for the comment on my Happy Dance quilt. I'm glad I stuck to it.
Your quilts are very nice. I especially like the tessellating fish one!

All your quilts are beautiful. I am a beginner, also and your quilts look like what my instructor is teaching in the beginners class. Cute little guys, also.;-)

Thanks for the website you sent me. I have looked at how to do those corners in many quilting books but it just came clear when I looked at it on the computer. I think the binding turned out well. I just wish I would have made it wider. You don't really notice it very much.
Thanks again!

Thankyou for explaining that to me. The more we can understand the issues that surround children the more we can be of support to those who have to deal with it. There was a time that parents tried to hide it when their children had problems like these (I am recalling my cousin who brought his family to a reunion, but had never told anyone that his son had a form of Turrets Syndrome, I think I spelled it wrong.) We spent most of the time thinking "what a brat". Paul finally explained and it certainly made things alot easier for his son and for us to be able to enjoy Connor and work to get to know him. We all to have our struggles and it sure is good to have this support through this wonderful forum.

Thanks so much for your comments, I know "this too shall pass" this week has been especially trying, usually I go with the flow and try to not read too much into things, but I think things are coming to a head for him as well that is why things have escalated and every little thing I do or say to him or his fiance is scrutinized and criticized. Good thing he lives 1/2 hour away. LOL. I am not familiar with this syndrome that your little one has?
