My first BeColourful quilt done!

Posted on January 25, 2018 at 4:25pm 6 Comments

I've been very quiet here, but I wanted to share this quilt.

After taking classes twice now with Jacqueline De Jonge, I have my first of (at least) 4 quilts completed.

I had it quilted by a friend who has quilted other of Jacqueline's quilts and did a wonderful job with it.

My first Square in a Square flimsy

Posted on April 29, 2012 at 6:58pm 4 Comments

I was thinking of making more blocks, and thus the flying geese in the corners - I ran out of the black, and it is pretty impossible to get. Not to mention I'm supposed to be stash busting with this new method!

I also have started up a Square in a Square group here - I thought it would be fun to discuss using this ruler with others.…

And a year later...

Gee, I don't blog much, do I? lol...

Anyways, I went on a 9 store shop hop this past Friday - I think I'm still recovering!

I have a renewed interest in my Square in a Square ruler and am attempting to make a block without instructions - lol, hopefully 3rd try is the winner! This IS the first time I'm using it.

I also created a new group for Square in a Square - it is waiting on approval.

My Comfort cutter

I just noticed that Connecting Threads has the TrueCut My Comfort ruler!

Very tempting... As an ambidextrous cutter that needs to be careful with my wrists, I'm very interested in trying this out.

Has anyone else tried/bought this cutter?

I did it! Actually entered a contest...

I'm a procrastinator extraordinaire. The Quilt Show has a table runner contest and I've only ever finished 2 quilts. I have never made a table runner, and I decided to enter this contest.

So, what do you think?

Springtime Tulips I designed this in EQ6 and used a set of charm squares (RJR's Flora and… Continue

Linda, you might want to let people know about your Square in a Square group, and include a link to the group, by writing a blog about it.

Hi Linda, I wrote up the instructions for how I did the name quilt on my page if you would like to see it. Thanks for your comments on the quilt, I enjoyed making it, I even got a giggle out of the squabble. I have 4 brothers, so I grew up with all boys, I didn't get a real education in how girls can be until my brothers married. Isn't it funny sometimes what Sister-in-law's will fight over? If you make one, send me a picture, I'd love to see it!

Linda: I do sell patterns from my website. Keep in mind that I am a quilter and not a web designer if you visit my site. I was thinking about selling the already made up pincushions when I vendor at a quilt show. There are so many flowers you could "make-up" with just the main pattern pieces. Someone already mentioned a black eyed susan. A great way to use up scraps. I've ordered some fat quarters from CT and will make each petal a different fabric to showcase the line. Hope it turns out. Anyway, my site address is www.sewsimplepattern.com. Thanks for your nice comments.

Backing the quilt with Minkee? That's a tough one. I would pin it really really well, that stuff shifts and wiggles around as well as stretches. And use a walking foot for sure.

The cross/dove wallhanging is from "Lovenest Designs"...I bought it from LQS. However, I misplaced my pattern...the LQS was sold out so I googled Lovenest Designs and found a place to order them online. The name of the pattern is "Eternal Hope". If you need any further info, let me know.

Thanks for your nice comments about the perspective quilt. Have found the copy of the pattern and it is called Scrap Boxes. Unfortunatley the copy doesn't show what book it was taken from. At the top of the page it says 3 D Perspective and the pattern is on Pages 54 and 55. Not much help, is it. Shame on me for not putting this on the label of the quilt. I'm wondering if it might be for the book Optical Illusions for Quilters by Karen Combs. If I do come across the book I'll certainly let you know. Thanks again for the comments.
