About Me
I live in the Idaho wilderness area with my DH of 28 years. We have 2 DGD's 2DGD's with another one due in Sept.We both work for a mine. Our schedule is 7 days on & 7 days off so I get lots of time to quilt.. Have been quilting for 20 years but only avidly for the past 5 yrs. I have always hand quilted till this past month and am learning to machine quilt. Love doing the free motion quilting. Will never give up hand quilting but will do lots more machine quilting. In a few yrs when we retire we will move to our 41 wooded acres in Wyoming. 41 acres will keep DH very busy while I quilt :0) Just got my sister in Alaska into quilting. Rather long distance but fun to share on the phone & email. Lori

A crazy year

This year has been unreal. First in Jan we lost our beloved Aunt Betty. In July I lost my dear step sister to suicide, Aug my step father of 41 years passed away, now this month we found out DH's sister is dying of breast cancer and only has a few months left. At least we get to spend so quality time with her before she goes. Next we we are flying to the coast and taking to the ocean for a week of walking in the sand. We had to wait a couple of weeks because I had to have all my top teeth pulled… Continue

Made it Back!!!!

My 37 days of vacation is now over and am back to work. Spent most of it in Wyoming cutting down trees, making a rode into the property where we want our new home, playing with the DGD's, building the log worm fence on the front 1500 feet of our property. On the days that it rained I was able to work on my EPP. Very rested broke and glad to be home where there is electricity and my sewing machines are happily humming. Sure missed this blog. Have a great week.

Summer Time

Summer time does have is down side. There are so many things to do outside plus picnics, fishing, four wheeling, building fences :(, camping, traveling, taking long walks and swimming. How does one get time to blog let alone quilt? Oh we humans are never happy. Just wish I could find a happy medium somewhere. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer and have lots of good health and lots of laughter. I will check in on all of you from time to time and hope to spend more time this fall. Lori

Arthritis and Hand Quilting

I have always hand quilted until the past 6 months as it was to painful for my wrist. I had to give up mu beloved hand quilting. Someone on this site worte a while back about learning to hand quilt from the ThimbleLady. I decided it was worth the money to try it. I hand quilted for 9 hours yesterday and another 4 hours this morning. Not only are my sitches 10 to 12 per inch, the best news of all my wrist does not hurt at all. I was self taught and was doing it wrong all along. Praise the Lord. I… Continue

Glad you had a productive time on you Wyoming place. Where abouts in Wyoming? We drove through Wyoming to South Dakota last month to see Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse and we loved the Wyoming Big Horn mountains, really beautiful up on top. We actually came across a herd of Moose and I had never seen them up so close. They came so close to the car.....I began to get concerned, but they were so neat to see and observe. Well anyway, good to see you back online.

I love your quilt with the scalloped binding! I haven't gotten that brave yet, but after seeing yours, I think I would really like to try it. Not sure how to get started though. Can you recommend a book or quilter?

Hi, Lori.

Thanks for joining the business group. It will be a good learning place for all of us.

By the way, your quilt projects are simply beautiful!

I have never hand quilted but have done some machine quilting. Recently, I got a longarm. I am hoping to get my practicing done soon so that I can complete some of my UFO's.

Glad to have you in the new group! Happy quilting!

Hi - I just viewed your quilts and fell instantly in love with Geese in the Field and Family Tree. Did you design those yourself? They are definitely in my "to make category" once I hear from you! Looking forward to you being in the Primitive Gatherings group!
