I haven't had much time to participate here on QWU but I've been lurking, reading posts and admiring the beautiful work you've all posted. But now I have a request for prayers for my 98 year old Aunt Naomi. She fell and broke two of her ribs and the ball of her hip. She's been evaluated for surgery and they are talking about replacing the ball this evening. Please pray that she's strong enough to handle it as being bedridden would definitively kill her. I know that the quilters prayers…

Eleven years ago my DH woke me with the news "that something had hit one of the twin towers in New York". I remember sitting on the couch for the rest of the day utterly transfixed, holding my newborn as the remainder of events unfolded. Then later feeling the rush of renewed fear when I found out that a friend of mine had been less than an hour from death because his son had thrown a fit and they were late for a meeting that was to have taken place at the towers. They thankfully never…

Hello all of you Cali quilters-
I'm heading to the Carpenteria area in about 10 days. I'll be able to sneak away from the family for a bit on Thursday the 28th if anyone would like to hook up and maybe find a cup of coffee and show me their favorite fabric shop. Let me know if anyone in the area is interested.

Thank you all for the prayers for my young cousin, Kelsea. She is home again, eyesight restored and catching up on some much needed rest. The doctors finally determined that it was either a massive stress induced panic attack or severe migraine. Either way something that can be dealt with and not going to last forever. Thank you so much for all of your positivity!

Hello all,
I have a huge favor to ask of you all. My little cousin, Kelsea Harvey, is 13 and desperately needs your prayers. She collapsed in the middle of running a 400 M in track last week and when she came to her eyesight was gone. After a night in the hospital with a whole lot of tests, her eyesight was fuzzy with some colors and shapes and as the doctors couldn't find anything that would explain her symptoms, let her go home. She returned to the hospital last night with…

I requested to add you as a friend...Your work is amazing!! Thanks for stopping by my blog to say hi! Can't wait to see what you make next!
Oh, my goodness, you're right about that--life gets busier as they get older, or at least the kind of busyness changes. When my (now grown) two were little, we only had one car--and I couldn't drive it!---so we were at home almost all the time. It was actually pretty nice b/c there was always time to read aloud or go outside to play. My busiest years were when the second one was in high school and took piano lessons two hours away.....it's quieter again now, at least most of the time. Of course, then they come home and down the road there will be weddings, first homes, grandbabies....
Hi, Quiltingmama---I know I would love your mama--she says the kinds of things I do! Well, I would have said, "That beats a hen a hookin'" but it's the same thing, right? I've missed you--how are thing with you and your family?
Thanks so much, I am glad you like it. The pattern is from "Easy Quilts" magazine, Fall 2010.
Your post on coasters and batting says your post is closed to comments, so I am leaving my comment here. I made some coasters this spring with cotton batting and they work great. Don't have any experience with the other types of batting. Hope this helps
On your question about batting. I've used leftover pieces of warm & natural to make coasters and they've turned out really well. It absorbs good, too. Hope this helps.
I really like your handprint quilt. Can you tell me what kind of batting you used for it? My daughter has almost finished a bed quilt and wants it to be "puffy" like yours looks like. Thanks, in advance, for your help.
