Question

Posted on June 3, 2009 at 11:24am 2 Comments

I am almost done with the 2nd block and I finally am handquilting correctly. I am so proud of myself. I have tried to handquilt for what seems like forever and I love it now. No more frustration. I am hand quilting a crib quilt. It is three blocks (includes sashing) wide and four blocks (includes shashing) in length. Here is my question: I hope it doesn't sound dumb. The two blocks I have quilted are the two verticle center blocks. Where do I go from here and etc.? Or doesn't it matter? I have… Continue

Hi everyone,

I had the heart cath because the Dr's were sure I had another artery blockage. Well, praise God, my arteries look pretty good. I had a stent last year at this time and couldn't believe that I had a blockage again already. God is "sew" good!! The only thing is we are back to square one as to what is wrong with me. I have an EGD Wednesday and a cardiac tilt table test on Friday. I hope they find a reason for my fainting, seizures, weakness, and tiredness; and, I pray the reason… Continue

Thanks to all who tried to help me

Thanks to all who tried to help me the other day when I was having my little "hissy fit" because I couldn't get Bobbi Sue's (my grandaughter) quilt pinned. I used the office clips and that worked great. I have decided to hand quilt it; since, I am not going to finish it by 2/21 anyway. It is calling me to hand quilt it so I might as well. It is "sew" nice to have friends like you. Thanks CT for this site.

Can We say "FRUSTRATION" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ?

I was trying to get my grandaughters dresden plate quilt done before 2/21/09 (her first birthday); but have given up. To begin with, I had a very hard time getting the dresden plates to be all one size. Now, I have tried four different times (four different days) to pin baste her quilt on my Grace quilt frame. Each time the quilt is not smooth. The top is full of waves. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot pin baste it on the floor because I can't get down there to do it. It takes a… Continue

I just finish the 12th and final block of Bobbie Sue's quilt. Now, I have to square them and cut my sashing and start putting her quilt together. Yippee! Thanks for all of the support; I would'nt have done it without you.

I'm finally getting back to connecting with quilters here...can't believe how long I've been away! Just wondering how the Little Peepers quilt turned out? How is the new grandbaby doing? Hope all is well and that you have time to do a bit of stitching today. Have a good day. Carol :)

Hi quiltingsue...I just opened my quilt blocks today. My 17-month-old granddaughter was visiting for 5 days and that kept me VERY busy! I wanted to wait until I had some quiet time to open them and really appreciate them. The blocks are beautiful (especially since blue is my favorite color!). I'm sorry I had to miss the get-together, but hope I can make the next one...if there is a next one! I'm sure you all had a great time.
I hope you have fun making the Little Peepers quilt. Since I love to do hand applique and embroidery, the original one was done by hand. They wrote the instructions to make it quick and easy using fusible web and machine stitches. If you have any questions at all about the pattern, please let me know. I'll be glad to help you out! And I can't wait to see a picture of yours when it is finished!

The quilt pattern I used on the elephant quilt is from the book "Let's Quilt for Baby" by Barbara Clayton. The elephant pattern is called Baby Elephant and is an embroidery design from Gunold. Embroiderydesigns.com has it on sale right now for $7.00.

If you do not have an embroidery machine, the "Lets quilt for baby" book has some really cute applique designs in it. The teddy bears is really cute and one of my favorite. Hope this info helps.

Yes the country side is beautiful up that way. And yes South Haven is in the SW, near Holland. They are wonderful partners for me. And thank you for the comment! I wish that your son in law would allow a pet for you. Pets are very therapeutic in my opinion. I hope that we stay in touch and happy quilting!

Wow they are all so beautiful!! I used to live in Michigan, and my dad's family is from Homer if you have any clue where that is. My family is from South Haven. It is wonderful that you live with your grand kids. I wish i had that opportunity with my grandparents. My gram used to quilt and that's why I have gotten into! Happy Quilting! ~Em

Love your quilts and your hand work is lovely. Your wee granddaughter isn't going to mind if her quilt doesn't get done by her birthday but she's going to love all Grandma's love that wraps her up when she does get it. So just have fun, hand quilt to your heart's content and enjoy creating a treasure to bundle that darling girl in. Happy quilty day, Susan
