almost Easter

Posted on March 23, 2009 at 7:27am 0 Comments

It is almost easter and here we are with rainy days just made for quilting. I just finished a shamrock table runner on St. Pats day so maybe I should get busy and get the Easter on done too! Ha! Our state guild is coming up in April too so should get busy readying for that! Is there ever enough time to get it all done? Can't understand people who say they are bored! I am putting borders on a quilt of valor today too, need to get it done for our local guild, we have made several for the SD gal… Continue

All things bright and beautiful!

I am new to this site and am enjoying the chat. I recently moved with my DH of 39 years from a farm into a small town in mid central South Dakota. I love to quilt, belong to our local guild and the state guild. I sew most every day and enjoy the art immensely. I am a recovering counted cross stitch addict, my vanity plates on the vehicle are "sticher" so that pretty much states it all! Have 3 grown children all married with children so have 5 grand children, 4 boys and 1 girl and she isn't… Continue

Hi Roxie, glad to hear you are getting some "outside" deadlines done. The reason I was asking where you lived is I went to college in Mitchell and have a few friends that still live in SD.

Hi Roxie. Sometimes I have to set my own deadlines for quilting, such as I really can't start a new project until this one is done, with the binding on. That or I have another quilt waiting to be quilted.
What part of SD do you live in?

Thanks for your ideas and thoughts for me. I also am left handed, so it really makes sense what you said. As for the material being cut under thr ruler, no one has told me that before. I will try it very soon and see what kind of results I get that way.....
Again, thank you I am taking it for what it's worth!! Priceless!!

Just want to say welcome. I noticed you like hand quilting. You might want to check out that group on this site.

I used to do long arm quilting for others. Just hated it because I couldn't get any of my own stuff done. I sold my machine thinking I'd rather have someone else do the quilting so I could concentrate on the piecing. Was fine until the prices quilting (like anything else) went up. I can totally understand it, but now that I retired, I have to be careful how I spend my "quilting allowance". So I bought a Flynn Multi-system frame and am teaching myself how to machine quilt. Can't seem to switch the brain from moving the machine to moving the fabric. I'm not going to give up, though. I found when I did long arm quilting, the quilt kind of told me how it wanted to be quilted as I went along. Can't do that when you have it done for you.

Speaking of quilting, think I'll go do some!! Have a great weekend.
