I just left you a reply under discussions, but it occured to me to tell you that we came to MO after living in Savannah, GA where my husband had his retirement tour with the Air Force - he was Air Liasion Officer at Fort Stewart.
Will you add me as a Friend??? One of the best things I think I've done lately is to start collecting Quilt With Us Friends . What a great group they are!!!
Thank you Sue, for the kind comment on my quilt collection. You may have noted that not all the quilts were done by me. In fact, most were done by my dear mother who is no longer with us. I am still learning but I love everything that has to do with quilts and I try to sew every day if I can.
Thanks, Sue, for commenting on my Wildflower Sampler. It's even prettier in person than the photo I posted. I've been quilting (really piecing quilts) since 1991 and love it so much. I've recently been teaching myself to quilt feathers on my home sewing machine. Thanks again!
Hi Sue, Do you have a store like Hancock's Fabric? Or does your WalMart carry fabric? Check for a tone on tone in a black. I purchased, for my GD, a black tone on tone at Hancock's which was butterflies that werre a charcoal on black background to back her Sudoku quilt. She hasn't finished it yet but when she does I will be posting a pic. Maybe something in that line will be good for your quilt.
BTW, Sue, our daughter lives in Orangeburg,S.C. I was just wondering where in S.C. you are? She has been there for aalmost 2 years and working in Columbia for NCR for 1yr. She likes it and is wanting me to visit all the time but my DH has a heart condition and is on oxygen all the time and doesn't think he can make the trip.
If the back of your quilt is going to be a black floral then by all means you could use a black thread to quilt with. You need to always consider the question of whether you want your quilting to blend or do you want it to stand out. If you want to stand out you shoud consider a contrasting thread and of course if you want it to blend you should like lay the thread on it to see how much it shows to decide if it is the way you want it to appear on your quilt.
I hope this is not too confusing to you. I have sewn since I was about 10 years old but only recently started to quilt. I love it............
