About Me
I'm retired after taking care of/raising gsons for the past 10+ years. My husband and I have been married 15 years; combined, we have 6 adult kids, 13 grandkids and 5 greats. I've been quilting off and on for a little over 30 years but didn't really get serious about it until about 3 or 4 years ago, then two years ago, I joined a local guild. I shouldn't say I got serious about it because if it's not fun, I don't do it. Most of my quilts can be called 'scrappy', I guess, since I almost always manage to put a piece of fabric from another quilt into it.
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, applique, paper piecing, embroidery, general sewing, knitting
My Pets
charlie (dog), chester (cat), chewy and mr prissy ( cats aka juvenile deliquents)

So Sad

My husband and I got some very upsetting news today. His grandson and granddaughter in law (the ones I made the Texas Roses and Stars quilt for) are divorcing. His parents and sister went down there last week for what they thought was going to be the church wedding for grandson and his wife (they married in courthouse just before he was shipped off for 2nd tour in the sandbox) only to find out there would be no wedding, and soon, no marriage.
Hubby and I believe that they didn't give it much of… Continue

Need some help again

Ok, 'fellow' quilters, it's time to start planning holiday get togethers. I'm on our guild's planning 'committee' (if you call three a committee lol) and we need some ideas for games we can play at our Christmas dinner/party. We've already decided on a fat quarter raffle (bring in a winter themed fat quarter to exchange for a ticket - then we'll draw one or more tickets to see who wins the fat quarters), but don't have any other ideas for games. Oh, hubbys are invited, too.. so would be nice if… Continue

BQ2 top completed

after having to rippit rippit several times :) I hope to be taking it to the guild's saturday sew in on Oct 10th to get it sandwiched so I can quilt and bind it back here at home. Again, thanks for all the help! I'd probably still be staring at the 'ugly' blocks on my design wall if it hadn't been for your suggestions. P.S. I just looked at the pic and noticed there are some 'bumps', but it's from the blanket underneath, not something in the quilt top that will need fixing. :)… Continue

what's wrong with this pic?

or rather, what's wrong with these quilt squares? I asked my husband to look at them - he wrinkled up his nose and said he didn't like the purple strips. I don't have a problem with those... it's the gold that's bothering me; it looks too 'muddy'.. but it was the best I could find to match the purple and gold colors that his granddaughter loves. I'm using dark purple for the backing and binding. any opinions??

Hi Sunshine. I really enjoyed doing the Catastrophy wall hanging. I think the squares are the same but I didn't make it as big as the pattern called for. Also, I made my cat a size in between the size of the small one and the larger one.
That is probably why it looks different.
I think yours is the one that I seen in here that made me go looking for the pattern. I thought it was so cute.

Sunshine, I am glad yo love my quilt "Star Dance." It is an easy quilt to do, especially if you have an over abundance of scraps.

OH, WOWeeee, I live like half way between the 2 cities. It is no wonder that she likes the purple and gold of the Tigers!!!!! Where does she live now(if I am not being too nosey)? Do you ever come down this way to visit? I would love to meet you and your DH. I am approximately 100-150 miles from either way. Keep me in mind if you ever come this way. Chat later......

WOW!! I didn't realize the reason for the purple and gold....L.S.U. is the best place to go to school, I have 2 nephews that have graduated there and 2 more in attendance now. Is there a special somebody there or is she going to go there??? I am suppose to make 2 L.S.U. lap quilts for a sister and a SIL. Just haven't gotten to it yet.Hang in there -- it is really looking good.

Funny, I bet eventually she will cave in and start her own quilting efforts. It is so easy to come to the master (Mom that is)! Thanks for commenting on my blog. Have a great week!
