About Me
Love to quilt entirely by hand - piecing and quilting, although I do some machine piecing on occasion. I prefer scrap quilts and reproducing antique quilts. I also love to garden, veggies and flowers, and to read. To bad I have to work as there are many more things I would rather be doing every day!
Hobbies and Interests
hand quilting, gardening
My pets are awesome!

Hand quilting little quilts

Posted on March 4, 2009 at 8:27pm 4 Comments

Nana asked about what hoop I use to hand quilt. I have multiple frames/hoops for my quilting from my great-grandmothers large frames that hang from the ceiling (not that I have them hanging now - I don't have room!) to small round wooden hoops. Currently my favorite for hand quilting my little quilts is an 8" Q-Snap frame. I find it allows me to adjust the tension well and because it is square I can work into the corners. Typically when I get to the edges, I don't use any hoop/frame on these… Continue

I understand about your templates. I guess it would definitely be a pattern that you would hand piece since there would be some crazy seams. I will have to give it a try. I like it better than the updated version where a triangle gets added to the corner of two of the squares and you have four seams in the center block. Thanks

I'm afraid to ask, but what size hexagons are you using for your Instant Insanity project?

You did that quilt by hand? It's very special. I would never finish if I did it by hand. I also like the gardening with flowers, not into the veggies......
Did that growing up and that was enough!
Have a nice weekend!
