As the title says, I only have a week to go. My husband and I are going to Florida for my brothers wedding. I am so excited! We will be in Orlando at Disney. Ever since his fiancee was little, she has always wanted to get married at Cinderella's Castle. They looked at rings and found one that she knew was the perfect one. After telling her that he couldn't afford that ring, he secretly paid it off without her knowing that he had actually bought it for her. My brother is such a… Continue

before xmas, I was commisioned to do 2 lap size quilts. One was to be a cat quilt, and one was to be a red hat quilt. I had some fat quarters for the cat quilt so I made sort of a scrappy cat quilt, got it finished, found a little lapel pin of a cat and added it on to the label. Then I started the red Hat quilt, looked for fabric everywhere, but could not find any, so again, I improvised. I found a catalogue that had ladies with hats in it, so I decided to make templates of some of the… Continue

Forever In Your Heart:
Do not cry for me, do not be so sad,
I will always love you, always be your dad.
Look at the sunshine, beaming from above,
For in its golden rays, there is always a father’s love.
Do not weep for me; do not shed one single tear,
I will always be with you, forever I am near.
Glaze at the stars abound in the shadowy sky,
Although my body is gone, my spirit did not die.
Do not… Continue

After being sick on Friday, I made it to the Dog Show today with my daughter and grandson. It was really slow this morning, but things began to pick up. In two days between the two of us we made over 200.00. I did sell a quilt and got a special order for bathroom towels with hummingbirds on them. So I guess my first try and vendoring was not too bad. I can sure say one thing sitting on your keister all day is hard on the ole body. One more day and I then can go home to my DH and puppies. I did… Continue

Finally got my grandparents picture quilt finished!!!! I now can work on my other UFO's and my Feb. Blocks.
I have been trying to finish this quilt since last May. It was due Mothers day last year. Then Christmas, now Mothers day again this year. Oh well, Mom will love it even if it is a year late. It should not have taken this long, but I started other things, like remodeling our house, selling it (listed 3 days!) then moving. Now I have another house to remodel, but the Lowe's here is 45… Continue

This week has been a nightmare......my husband had surgery on Monday. I spent the entire day from 5:45 am to 6:30 pm at the hospital. Tues with a storm looming, I got to the hospital around noon. The Dr came in around 2:30 and said he would discharge my husband. It should ahve been a quick process....oh no! We finally got out of there arounf 6pm. I got hubby settled and ran to the pharmacy to have his prescriptions filled. I got to eat around 7:30 and after getting hubby's cath bag changed… Continue

I'm looking forward to double Super Bowl fun. The game doesn't start until 4:00 here--so, I'll go to a Super Bowl party for quilters from noon until four. Do I need more fabric? Of course! I need to help spur the economy forward and keep my favorite shop in business. It sounds so very noble doesn't it?
In reality, I'm a fabric junky and need a fix.
Hope you all have fun plans for Super Bowl Sunday!

I just got back from a class on machine applique. Previously, all my applique has been done by hand because that is all I knew how to do. This was a good class. I learned how to set the machine to the right thing which is the main deal with me. The next quilt I do I will plan on a lot of applique so I can get in a lot of practice. In class we made a place mat to use for the kids or grand-kids' birthdays. It is cute and not as hard as I was thinking it would be.

Thank goodness I went out (couldn't get hubby to do it on his own) and got groceries and a few errands done this morning as well as dropping in to see Mother. I actually got DH to visit his mother without whining. Here comes the SNOW again.
We live in a house that was built somewhere around 1870, now the thing with 139 year old houses is that eventually parts of them don't want to remain standing, such as ceilings. We have replaced some areas of the sloping ceilings in two of the bedrooms,… Continue

We are forever one in spirit and in the love of God.
The Hawaiian word aloha is used as a hello and a farewell. And when I say good-bye to unwanted habits, attitudes, circumstance, I also welcome new ideas, relationships, and opportunities to me.
With the love and affection of an aloha, I say good-bye to a family member or other loved one who is traveling a short distance or halfway round the world. We may be going our… Continue

Hello friends! No, I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, just been busy with schoolwork. I have figured out my schedule a bit and I'm actually finding a few minutes here and there to quilt a bit. (I think God just added a few hours to my week without telling me!) I'm keeping up with my classes though and, so far, I've got all A's. If I can keep this up through the final semester, I'll graduate with honors. Won't that be a bonus for a grandma who spent her high school years thinking she… Continue

What is the main use for the walking foot attachment? Is it topstitching? Is it stitch in the ditch? A repair guy said it's better to use the walking foot attachment for sewing 2 layers of fabric together because it will keep the 2 layers from shifting. Is that true? In other words, what kind of result will a walking foot give you that another attachment cannot?

76 hours without electric and heat. After the first 24 hours it ceased to be an adventure. We began to worry about pipes freezing and food in the freezer not freezing. We are in south central Missouri, about 12 miles north of the Arkansas line. We got about 2-3 inches of ice and the damage is tremendous. We have so many trees broken...many beyond saving. Unknown yet what damage if any it has done to the roof or siding. We feel fortunate no large trees fell directly onto the house. It sounded… Continue

Let Go, Let God---
I release all into God's care, expecting and accepting the perfect outcome.
As a child, I may have constructed a paper boat and floated it in a bathtub or even a puddle of water. Now, in a quiet time of meditation, I imagine placing such a craft on the surface of a stream. Soothed by the warmth of the day's sun, I relax and visually follow my creation as it floats downstream.
I rest comfortably as I watch the… Continue

I will be sewing all day tomorrow at my local quilt shop making quilts for our wounded troops. They are providing all the fabric and lunch, so I volunteered to make a pound cake for desert, and since my husband is very fond of pound cake (or any sweet for that matter), I decided I had better make 2. So I pulled out one of my Paula Deen cookbooks and decided to try her Carmel Nut Pound cake. Don't know what went wrong, but the cake ran over the top of my pan and most of the cake ended up at the… Continue

I have been thinking about starting a sewing business. I have done lots of reading, but would like any advise from someone who has had experience sewing for others. What about weddings--window treatments--or alterations. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My husband Greg and I have been dog sitting our daughter's chocolate lab all week and so have done vitrual no quilting, getting on the computer is even a chore. Brock (the dog) thinks I should spend undivided time with him, so when I tried to sew he tried to get in my lap. Oh well, I guess granddogs, just like grandkids need that extra. We are taking him home tomorrow and hopefully by Sunday i can get back into routine. Hope all are having a good day and my thoughts and prayers are there for… Continue

I went with my daughter to the Dog Show to set up and I got sick as a dog. (:. My DH had to come 1 1/2 hours to get me to bring me back home. I sure was a mess. We have about decided that it was food poisoning. So my daughter and grandson are there by themselves today. I am hoping to be able to go back with them tomorrow. She said that she has only sold 12.50 of my things. So I need to go to push my stuff. Love reading the blogs. Happy Quilting.
