Since I don't seem to be able to keep this blog current, I guess that writing a book isn't going to happen. Funny - I think I had the same problem with keeping a diary when I was a teenager. Even though I'm frequently told I should write a book, I think I'd have to just tell stories and let someone else write it. Really! There would be some very interesting and different chapters.
Delivering a Baby: 101
How NOT to change a light bulb.
Lady, Shut UP!
How many of you find that you don't notice what could be considered a glaring mistake until you are actually quilting the quilt? I am quilting a row robin made by members of an online group I used to co-own on Yahoo. This top is about 7 yrs old. It wasn't until I started quilting the bird row that I discovered that 4 out of 6 birds have the tops of their little heads "cut off" because the person who made this row used background fabric where she should have used bird fabric. Hopefully…Continue

After a friend, seeing my newest flannel rag quilt, commissioned me to make a baby girl rag quilt for her upcoming grand nieces baby (in February). SO I have it in progress and really like it. Got an in progress pics to show you. The center is sewn together. The outside round is waiting to be sandwiched and added to the top.
UPDATE: I finished it today. It measures 38" x 46" and is just so lovely. It's had one washing so know it will "rag" more with more…Continue
But I'm pretty sure there are plenty of sewing/quilting folk out there who have cluttered and/or messy sewing spaces. Things you've piled "over there" until you can get to them, or "just put in here" until you find the right project…Continue
I'm almost back to normal, and finally getting some knitting done. My Sandy Beach Scarf is coming along.
The orange stitch marker shows the halfway point in the length. The yarn is Manos del Uruguay Lace, alpaca, silk and…Continue
Yup it's been awhile, but the real world calls every once in awhile... I have decided to revisit a quilt design. I know I know I have a little rule about redoing designs, but I have decided that my tie quilts can be redone since they are not wall worthy. I am redoing the Walking…Continue
I've tried to post in the new year with pictures of completed projects but the internet connection is so slow that I could complete another large quilt in the process. So you'll have to take my word for it that I did what I did and completed said projects w/o visual proof!
Yes, the holiday season was a busy one with other activities that address my musical interests. I participated in a local community chorus of 80 + voices with orchestra and handbells. It was an awesome concert…Continue
Well, it was actually finished last night but got it's first washing today. It's so cozy in the extra cold weather. The trick is gonna be to steal it from the cats! It measures 44" x 52".
I participated in the group Project Robins Hope...honoring the wish of Robin Lehold to make 100 quilts for soldiers by the end of Febr.. This week they were at 86 and asked if anyone could make another. I made one in May. Several quilters have made several gorgeous quilts. So, I made this one....I was honored to be a part of a wonderful goal. I will say, that I can understand…Continue
Hello fellow quilters! I just wanted to let y'all know that I was able to get ahold of Irene and she is fine. She is experiencing computer problems and doesn't know when she will be back online. I, for one, was quite relieved!!! I'm sure it's a big frustration for her, but I was happy that all was well otherwise.

I guess winter really has arrived. When I’m not having to push mountains of the white stuff off our deck courtesy of a steep roof pitch that dumps the snow onto the deck with depressing regularity, I quite like this season. DH keeps the driveway clear with the tractor and snowblower and I clear the decks. With a snow scoop. That’s a 42 inch high railing you see behind the snow pile!…Continue
... can you believe our little girl is soon to be 5? My how time has flown. I just finished some items for her. I have discovered, or perhaps reconfirmed what I already knew, that I am not a great doll clothes maker. I can't imagine even attempting Barbie size doll outfits. My hat goes off to those of you who make them and they turn out great. The pillowcase will be for Valentine's Day.…Continue
