Update on my UFOs!

I decided today to re-organize all of my unquilted tops and make sure I had backings ready to go with them.  I used to keep the smaller ones in one cabinet & the larger ones in another, but I decided to combine them so I would have room to store my Christmas quilts.  I am down to 16 tops waiting to be quilted, which is about half of what I had about a yr & a half ago.  I know for sure I will have to pay to have one of them longarm quilted as it is 104" x 116".  There is just no way I…

Any recommendations for a stand-alone bobbin winder?  I'm interested in pros and cons.  Thanks!

High Fiber—Goodbyes

This was the week we said goodbye to visiting grandkids.

When I took Soren and his family to the airport I learned that he didn't have a hat that fit, so I dug through my stash when I got back and found some Swish DK in "Dusk." I CO immediately.

I'm using …

A newbie Excited to be here!

I am so pleased to be here.  There sure does seem to be a lot to do and a lot to learn.  Right now I'm working on a flannel rag quilt for myself to combat the very cold temps here in Mid-Missouri.

One thing I KNOW I want to do is the Little quilt series.  I plan to order the January kit soon.

NEW Block of the Month for 2015: Chains of Flora

My New Year's Resolution is to sew more.  Ever since my best quilting bud, Jennifer Clevell passed away 3 years ago I haven't touched my machine.  Well tonight I dusted her off and got to it!  Made the first two blocks of my Chains of Flora BOM.  Its FREE to download the pattern each month on Craftsy.com (starter pattern is free too).

Here is my January Carnation…

Look what I found at a house sale...

Stopped by a house sale not really thinking I would be interested in anything. So, I have to believe this top drew me in and said "find me". This is beautifully cross stitched...I wonder after putting so many hours into a project, why they don't finish it! Does that sound familiar?!!! I will be machine quilting this. My lamps match perfectly as does the bed ruffle in the the…

New Year snow days

Here in MI we have been having pretty good weather and we have still been getting our walks in. Snow moving in today with cold winds.

Haven't posted in sometime.  Our quilt group has been busy since Sept and I am trying to use up 3 boxes of scraps.  Made 5 baby quilts for the VA hospital in Nov. They have an annual baby shower for vets that have returned from service.  Finished a single size scrappy for an orphanage, they requested 10 for the home and we cut and made 11 in our…

Happy New Year!

I've been absent for awhile, sorry!  But I've just wrapped a week+ vacation during the holiday, when work closes down between the holidays.  It's such a nice time to be off.  After all the usual family and friend holiday stuff, I started a brand new project!  It's called Whisper and it's a thousand pyramid quilt, designed by my friend Mary Fons.  I started cutting the day after Christmas:…

Squeaked in another finish

I finished stitching down the binding on this wallhanging just at the stroke of midnight!  The blocks were given to me by members of a quilting group my friend Lou Ann & I used to have for my birthday in 2013.  It has felt so good to see the pile of UFOs steadily getting smaller & smaller.  I need to block this quilt and then add the hanging sleeve & label.  It will probably hang over my bed once it is time to put my spring/summer quilt on the bed.…
