The quilt in the large picture on my page is called "Little Peepers". I made it for the Fons and Porter baby quilt contest in 2007. It did not win a prize, but it was published in their recent publication called "baby Quilts". Great fun to see my design in print! Has anyone else been published lately?

Today is my Dad's birthday. He's been gone less than a year and a half but it seems longer. I'll go this afternoon and place a flower on the grave that he and Mom share and reflect on the many wonderful memories he left behind.
My brother has said that he and I had as close to a perfect childhood as anyone could have and I would have to agree. Though we were raised in far from luxurious conditions we had loving generous parents who were from the Greatest Generation that Tom Brokaw wrote… Continue

I received my recent order from Connecting Threads yesterday, and I was so pleased with everything. The added free charm square was a neat surprise. Thank you. Best of all, is the CD that I purchased on Judith Baker Montano....It is awesome, and I keep watching it over and over again. What a wonderful teacher she is. Thanks again, Anne

Yesterday afternoon I was able to get back to some sewing - always a good, no GREAT, thing. I got the quilt blocks (from my daughter) all sewn together. It took some hedging, but the result is going to be really nice. It's a blended quilt. Today will be attaching the border, then seeing if I have enough batting to sandwich and get ready to quilt. I'll quilt this one myself. I don't have a quilt frame, but I have a good machine for quilting.
The sun is out here again today - 3 in a… Continue

I guess I have to give up the puppies now. They are eating, have had their shots, and are at the age now to go to new homes. I have enjoyed them for the last 7 1/2 weeks. The pups have been trained on puppy pads, which they use most of the time, but I still have to clean up when they miss the pads. Usually when I take them out of the play yard and let them run is when they miss. In the play yard they use them faithfully. They are beautiful and very loving. I will miss them all. My daughter is… Continue

I have managed to get two client quilts done and delivered and the raffle quilt loaded - of course on that one Miss Chick decided to have a few tension issues to resolve with the threads and batting so I had to frog the top border last night. I really want this one done before I leave for classes next week so I don't come home to such a tight deadline. There are Quilts of Valor calling my name from the fabric room wanting to be quilted but they are going to have to wait until I get home… Continue

OK I don't know what possessed me to give this answer. My husband is planning a business trip to China and will be gone for up to 3 weeks. That means lots and lots of time for... you guessed it QUILTING!!!... anyway last night he asked me if I had enough material to keep me quilting while he was gone and I said YES. Oh my what was I thinking, do we ever have enough material? LOL

So, was squaring off some 6.5" blocks with my 6.5" square ruler yesterday - used the frosted ruler and it still slips!
Oh, yes, on Friday, I was using a new 60mm quick change olfa rotary cutter - that doesn't retract when you let go... yeah, let go for some reason and got a nice deep cut in my left pointer finger.
So, do I need a klutz glove, or will a dollar store cotton glove do? and is there any simple thing I can put on my ruler to make it less slippy? or do I have to… Continue

I am all excited about going to the quilt show this weekend in Hampton, Va. I have not ever been and am really looking forward to seeing all the beautiful work. I have a quilt that I am fixing to start and am in desperate need of material. I do not even know what colors to make it in yet so am also listening to the fabric. Hope to meet many new people. Have a great weekend.

I have been sick since early Monday morning with a fever over 101, cough & aches. I'm starting to get pretty wimpy about this. You would think I was a man since I'm complaining. I was to fly to south Texas to see my sister tomorrow morning, but that is not going to happen. I am disappointed but will go later in March. There is so much sickness around. I hope to feel better tomorrow. I would like to sew, but have not felt like getting out of bed. Hope everyone else is well! Take your Vitamin… Continue

Today we went to Kingsley Plantation. It was gorgous. Then to Amelia Island. The property is very expensice there. You would see a 3 million doller house next to a shack. The ocean front property sells for 750 thousand dollars. Then we went to Fernande Beach. Quaint little town. Had lunch at a seafood place and then to a few of the shops. Then to the beach. It was so cool. Found sea shells to bring home and… Continue

I had the opportunity to go and enjoy the Quilting from the Heart IX Quilt Show in Titusville, FL on Friday, Feb. 20th. I had an awsome time...all by myself.... The quilts were beautiful and I couldn't get over how many were hand quilted. I think I took a picture of almost every quilt there. There were only about 20 vendors, but that's ok. I was able to get some 1930s flour sacks (or something like that) for my mom. I also got her some charm squares. I got some really pretty blue material for… Continue

Well, tomorrow it is back to cold wnter days in Indiana. These last 8 days in southern CA have been wonderful! One day was overcast but we went shopping and to the casino so that was ok. This vacation has been much needed and appreciated! Hopefully it will give me the strength to get through the rest of tax season and all the other "adventures" in my life! We went to 3 more quilt shops today...one was a dud, the second was ok, and the third was a Babylock dealer so I was able to purchase more… Continue

Hello, In regards to photo # 44, by WhoKnew. The Christmas Cube. It was designed by Karen Combs, and I believe a book with the pattern can be found on her web site. I am in no way connected to this author. I made this wall hanging years ago, and it talked me, like I believe it has talked to many of you. Her web site is www.karencombs.com The pattern I believe can be found in her book 'More Patchwork Illusions". Hope this helps. Lynne

I love to quilt and have just recently purchased a Innova 26" Longarm to help me complete all my projects. I'm just learning so I'm not that great at it yet. Looking forward to meeting some new friends. - Kristi

Happy Hump Day…well for me it’s my Friday eve also since my Fridays are free of charge now. WOW just got my 1st 32-hour paycheck…good thing I was already sitting down or I would have surely collapsed in a dead heap! 8 missing hours and more taxes being taken out…talk about shock and awe. Could have handed me a live grenade and it wouldn’t have peeled my eyes off the lack of money. Thank Maude in HIMMEL Jim still has a job and is still working 40 hours per week. As I knock on simulated wood… Continue
