This morning I finished new outfits for my sewing machines:
I had the fabric in my stash and this seemed to be the perfect project for it. Ordered batting for the quilt that is waiting to be quilted - didn't have enough on hand. Had some reward "money" so the batting is free. That's a price I can afford. LOL
This afternoon I got time off (from care giving my folks) and my sister and I headed out to pick up a quilt at the quilter's that she was in… Continue

The hotel we stayed in last night did not have internet service. So here we are in Paducah KY and it is snowing. I talked to family at home and we have 5-6 inches of snow. It rained from Chatanooga TN to Paduach when it started snow. Went to the Music hall of fame yesterday. I did not enjoy it very much. It was really small. Today we went to the Hunter Museum today and it was wonderful. I really enjoyed the… Continue

How is everyone? Good I hope. I am back from playing in NYC. My friend and I went and saw Martha Stewart, Mamma Mia, and Wicked. What a whopping 48 hours it was. Martha is located in the fashion district and the fabric in the windows was amazing. I am back to sewing, right now I'm working on a very large quilted bag to hold all of my rulers. I will post a pic when I am finished the fabric is really pretty. I finished piecing a wallhanging (the one I posted) and now it is waiting for some… Continue

the 'nut' you have to remove to replace the blade on my rotary cutter (fiskar brand) won't stay tight. I've had it for years without any problem, but since the last time I changed the blade, I have to keep tightening it up every time I use it. Any one have any idea why.. or how to solve this problem? I've even tried flipping the 'nut' over, but got the same results.

For the people who are in northern states that doesn't sound like much, but..............We don't have much snow in TN and we are suposed to get 2-3 inches tonight. Then it is supposed to by 68 next week. Oh my! I have been working on the Sweet Pea Sonata block that is in the recent issue of Quilmaker magazine. I am doing it in 30's material, which I simply love. I will do a table topper probably. I hate to do that because I love bed quilts but it will be easier to quilt on a domestic machine.… Continue

All wallpaper should come with a big red sign on it saying...At some point you are going to want to remove this wonderful wallpaper. Think twice before installing. Enough said, I want to be quilting instead of trying to remove wallpaper paste from the bathroom wall.

While I'd rather be quilting today - I'm actually cooking. Having a dinner tonight for about 18-20 folks. Ham, pork chops, collard greens, beans, carrot cake and more - yum, yum!! My youngest daughter, Shannon, 19, is leaving for Air Force Basic Training on Monday. She is following in the footsteps of her dad and her oldest sister, Breana, 28. Both served almost ten years in the Air Force. I am proud that my family serves, but I know I will miss her terribly. She is so much fun to be around… Continue

Good morning. I'm just home last night, from Punta Cana, and am already in withdrawl from the Carribean warmth and sunshine! We came home to -20 Celcius and a bone biting wind. Our two sons and their girlfriend/fiances went with us. It was wonderful to spend quality time with them, as one couple lives in BC and we are in Ontario.
It will take another week to sort through the mail, newspapers and emails!
I can't believe we had 275 emails waiting for us!!! I have clicked on the "stop… Continue

Hi all, So sorry I've missed a few days. Things are really getting crazy around here with work and training a girl to do my job while I'm gone, working on mom's house, planning our stops for vacation (boy the daily word sure is timely for me!) and general stuff that needs to be done.
I hope everyone has a great day that is filled with God's love and guidance.

I hear ya on the cold, Edith! it's 18F here in mid michigan, but the wind chill is only about 7. I have to drive to JoAnn's but think I'll give Mother Nature time to warm things up a little more first. For some unearthly reason, I woken up about 5:30 this morning.. no way I'll make it through the day without a short nap. Have to stay out of the sewing room at least til I get back from JoAnns.. I keep finding more ideas for quilts and my to-do list is already tooooo l o n g (and that's not… Continue

It was -13C when I headed out for my walk today. We didn't walk yesterday because my friend was busy. If it hadn't been raining I might have gone out myself, as it was I pulled out my step thingy and did some time on that. Good thing too, because when I went into my sewing room I sat the rest of the day. I mentioned a couple of days ago that while looking for a certain piece of fabric that I ended up spending 8 hours cleaning my fabric closet and still didn't find that piece. Well yesterday I… Continue

I have a questions. Has anyone tried the pre- wound bobbins from CT. I have bought some from my favorite quit shop, they work good until they get less then half then they seem to bounce in the bobbin case. I usually do wind my own bobbins, but sometimes I am in the middle of a project.

It is nice to be back home, except for our weather here in Akron. Chee-e-e! We had a few rainy days in LA, but we also had some nice weather, sunny, and warmer. Got to see Forrest Whitaker, like I said before, and then the very next night my husband, Larry, Keith and Valerie went back to blockbuster to rent another evening movie and there was Drew Carey picking out a movie. Yep. My husband got to shake his hand also. Drew was very friendly also. Larry and I got our picture taken with the… Continue

I do apologize for not posting anything but at the moment I have my hands full. My younger sister moved in with me. She had a brain aneurysm rupture several months ago and her memory is next to nothing. She can't be by herself anymore. I'm trying to get some sewing done but it's not working too well right now. I will tell you that I am working on a Shamrock quilt for my grandson. When I get the top finished, I will post.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the quick answer to my question on where to get prequilted mareial.
Our Wal-Mart has material but only sells plain prequilted material. Since you have all told me about JoAnn fabrics I have checked there website and found several, next I plan to go to their store and check it out.
Thanks again. It's nice to have some people to talk to with the same interest as myself.

I got home from the doctor's about an hour ago. The news is, I can look forward to another 5 days of feeling like this! Ahhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, at least I keep up with the blogs. I don't feel like doing anything else. I do sleep alot which is what he said I need, but good grief! I bet that everything will still be waiting for me anyway! :) I haven't seen my grandson for a week now & that is really hard for me. I sure don't want anyone to get this flu that sticks to you like glue. Hope… Continue
