You may remember from last week that I had designed a simple doll dress (Everyday Play) using self-striping yarn.
The design now has a jacket to go with it. You can find it here.
Dolly’s version is a little longer for a slightly different look:…

My birthday is on Sunday. In the past members of the Piece Around The World group did a birthday swap where each person would choose a block and the colors/fabrics they wanted & the others were make one for them. This year I decided to do things differently so I assigned a specific person to each participant. My friend Julie Huffman had my name and she made me not only 1 beautiful wallhanging, but 2! Julie & I have been friends for many years so I was so happy she decided to join…

To celebrate National Quilt Month in March, Connecting Threads will offer Mystery Quilt 2016. This is our third Mystery Quilt - yes we skipped 2015. I'm sorry - we did something else last year to celebrate. The response to the past two Mystery Quilt Quilt Alongs was quite positive with…

Good morning quilters-
Thought I'd check in and give you a progress report! We are in Orlando, hubby is at a meeting and I'm being fitted for my new prosthetics. This is the state of the art place and unbelievable people. It makes you appreciate life and that your disability isn't as bad as some. First night, I met a 7 yr. old boy who was born with one leg and only half of each arm. His mother was just killed in a car accident. He had never walked until coming to Stan. They made a leg…

The pillow is a project I made up as I went. I can see plenty of things I would do different if I make another one but it was fun none the less. The oven mitt is from a tutorial I found on Shabby Fabric. com. I did a class this month on this at the sewing club I go to . …

Found about 2" of snow this morning, but it's melting quickly. It's still a good reason to stay inside and get some quilting/sewing done. My DH's nephew and his wife are expecting their second child in June, so I am making them a baby quilt. Instead of cutting triangles AND squares for this, I cut all squares and actually cheated a little as some are pre-cut charm…

I'm sure many of you have already gotten the news, but quilt artist (and really nice guy) David Taylor's home/studio burned while he was away. Much has been lost. The priceless personal quilts cannot be replaced.
To cheer him on while he is dealing with insurance, rebuilding and replacements and to replenish his burnt threads, you can send a spool of (cotton only) threads by Superior, Sulky, YLI or Aurifil to:
Threads for David

Last weekend’s Spin Along resulted in some interesting yarn:
The roving (fiber) was AlohaBlu’s Targhee "Saturated Spring,” 2 oz. The result is more or less DK-worsted. I got 108 yds, Navajo-plied to show off the colors. I used a Kromski Sonata wheel equipped…

I called my 90 year old mother to wish her Happy Valentine and ask her what she was doing. she replied back, " I am teaching a sewing class". Now it is dinner time Sunday night. Who? "The neighbor' kid". Which? The girl next door. Now that is odd. The kids are now back with their grand parents after being dumped at DFS (Division of Family Service) The dad was already in jail and the mom is now back too after being on the run and trying to sell and get drugs. The sweet child of seven was…
