Home Sweet Home......in Oregon

I am home bound now as our governor issued a ‘stay at home’ order this morning.  We can go to the grocery store or medical appointments or certain jobs. My husband is still working because his company is considered essential, they make parts for military and medical equipment.  My mom is in an assisted living facility and no visitors have been allowed there for over a week.  I call her daily as well as some of my siblings and my sons.  I have a quilt that I…

Returned home

We decided to come home two weeks early. Not fun when everyone is stressed. Woke up this morning to the fire alarm going off. False alarm but scared us. Then the phones started ringing. My 45 yo nephew was admitted in Indiana for what sounds like the virus. Unfortunately, he waited a week thinking it was a cold. Impress on your people to not wait...this moves fast. Luckily, he's not on a vent yet. When it hits your family it"s terrifying. Prayers for all

Making the best of it.

This Corona virus is making it's way here. We have a few cases of this down state but so far none here in Calais.  Everything is closed except WM and two grocery stores and gas stations. I'm getting some Spring cleaning done and making progress in the sewing room during this quarantine. I'm praying that we all stay healthy and get through this.

Happy International Quilters Day

I hope everyone has a chance to do at least a little bit of quilting today.  I certainly didn't need another project to work on, but I decided to go ahead and participate in Edyta Sitar's 2020 mystery that started yesterday.  So I'm going to spend part of today working on block #2.  Need 8 of them, but they should be fairly quick to make.

Quilting Fabric Is Good for More Than Quilts!

Deaconess Health System in Indiana is asking the public to make fabric face masks for health professionals.

The COVID-19 pandemic has moved federal health officials this month to liberalize their recommendations about which face protection front line health-care workers should use to ward off the…

Crazy Quilt purse

I finished another purse today.  The design is from Kreative Kiwi, which is a machine embroidery site from New Zeeland.  I made the front & back using my embroidery machine & then assembled the purse using my regular sewing machine.  I decided to add the heart shaped button to make the flap lay down flatter.  The fabrics were purchased in 2007 and were part of a line that promoted ovarian cancer research.  …

Quilt Finishes for 2020

Hi All! These are some of the photos of one of two of my most recent quilt finishes. The quilt is from Julia Quilt off's Christmas Wreath Class that I finished on Valentine's Day. All of the quilting was done with my JukiTL2010Q on my Grace Q-Zone Hoop Frame with the exception of the machine applique and thread painting which was done with my Brother PC420. This is the first time I ever did pebbles, swirls, along with ribbon candy and I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Happy…

Checking in...

Good morning-

Looks like some of us are busy stitching...darn sunny weather and the pool are such distractions! I haven't stitched at all except mending! That counts... right???

Hubby is an expert on how to ventilate patients. They asked him to advise medical staffs on coronavirus treatment. Set up a website. We've been busy fielding questions by text or emails. Seems like he is skyping all day. The language barrier is huge trying to advise them. This is a similar flu to…

Scrap Happy Purse

A few months ago I went to an open house put on by Renee  Nanneman with Need'l Love and I found this really cute purse pattern.  I decided it was time to make one for myself and just finished putting on the handles a little bit ago.   The pattern is the Scrap Happy Purse by Amanda Jean Nyberg.  After I finished the gussets I realized I had oriented my scraps vertically instead of horizontally like she did in the pattern, but I don't think it made any difference.  It was an easy "mistake" to…

High Fiber—Seeing Colors and Music

I had to break into my stash and drop my cardigan knitting to start on a project for the "Happy St. Patrick's Day" Join-Along in the Goetz Group on Ravelry. I'll be making a cardigan, a blouse and a skirt for Mandy, who looks more Irish than any of the other dolls, with her red…

Our Miss Bailey is 10!

I spent last week down in Arizona, surprising Miss Bailey for her 10th birthday (and already 5'4"+). Her dad is on the left (Adam) and my middle son CJ is on the right. He is living with Adam and helping with Bailey on the week she's with Adam.

No sewing/quilting ... I'm going through everything and purging a lot as I prepare to move to a…

Dragon pillow for my grandson Will

My grandson Will asked me to make him a pillow with a dragon on it.  We gave him our old living room couch when he got his own apartment & he wanted a decorative pillow to put on it.  I gave it to him yesterday & he was thrilled with it.…

Kansas City Chiefs pillow

My grandson Mike loves the Chiefs so he was thrilled when they won the Super Bowl.  I found this cute machine embroidered gnome design so made it for him as he has just moved in to his first apartment.  I found the Chiefs fabric at Joanns.  It was absolutely horrible to work with and I would certainly never use it in a quilt, but it worked okay for a pillow.  The original price was $12.99 per yard, but they had it "on sale" for $9.99.  Wasn't worth more than $5.99 per yard in my opinion.  It…

Sending sunny skies your way...

Hope everyone is staying busy and warm. We have had a couple of cold days for here, but I still went swimming. Wanted to send some pictures of the gorgeous flowers from the yard. The picture of the ground owls are from our yard. They are protected...if, you see one, put a fence around the area and build a little perch for them to sit on. Gary gets a good hissing at every morning. We had friends in over the weekend. Went to a 50-60s cabaret show. We did a lot of dancing and table singing.…
