We had a great time in Daytona...On the way back to Orlando, we ran across a Drive- IN church service. It is one of last drive-in movie lots. It was free...drove in and put your speaker in the window and the service began...There were people in RVs, 18 wheelers, and motorcycles. Some had swimsuits on and a cup of coffee! The place was full! They came to each vehicle with a collection plate. It was a great experience...I think it could catch on...too bad some of the old drive-ins don't adapt to… Continue

Remember the diamond I found on my walk this week? I took it to my jeweler yesterday. When I walked in and told him the story, he looked at it. Ok, it was so close that he couldn't tell if it was real or not by his eyes. Then, he asked me for it and he put it under his little microscope. Come to find out, it's fake, but I say-hey, if a reputable jeweler can't tell right off, it's probably a pretty good lookalike! When he asked me if he should throw it away, my response was," ARE YOU KIDDING?… Continue

Has anyone given lessons on sewing or quilting in their home or is best to do it at a place like Hobby Lobby? I have been asked by HS students and adults for help. I have not checked out about how Hobby Lobby would work. I thought if I did it at Hobby Lobby it would be hand sewing and how to cut using different methods. I have not shopped much at the local quilt fabric store. I do know they charge $5. for each person who comes to sew in their big room. They also already have one on one help… Continue

Yesterday, my friend and I drove to Red Deer to take in The Central Alberta Quilters' Guild 19th Annual Quilt Show - a 1 1/2 hour drive. It was lightly raining when we left Calgary, but we soon left that behind. It was quite a bit cooler, with a bitter edge to the breeze when we hit Red Deer. We didn't mind however, as we were inside all day. We had lunch first, then slowly viewed the quilts that were so nicely hanging. The venue is well lit and the floor plan well thought out. . There were… Continue

Thanks everyone for your messages and prayers. We lost Mom this afternoon, I had just had her transfered to a Hospice place in the next town today since I could not take care of her and she died a couple hours later, I am glad she was there and not home and it was for the best as she suffered for a long time with the Cancer and is no longer in pain.
God Bless you all

It seems that I will not be getting a chance to have my life back as normal yet. My mom fell outside her house... chasing the puppy. She broke her foot and her ankle in two places. Yesterday they operated on her... Continue
and with all of the meds...she has lost her marbles. Talking crazy like. She is mean, as a snake... and she will not
eat... we never have seen her like this before,…

Surgery went well though I did give the doc a bit of a challenge since there was more deterioration in the joint than he expected. He just said it gave him more of a challenge. Gotta sayope to he is a character but did a great job., Came in yesterday dressed in "yard boy attire" and said GO HOME. I actually was out of the hospital in less than 2 hours from then., Have been resting and am slowly beginning to feel more human. Grandsons and SIL got in last night from IN with granddog Bella so it… Continue

After being in education for 22 years, I've decided May will be my last month. I want to do something different, don't know what, but I know I'll fiqure something out. I need a change. I'm so excited to see whats ahead of me! I know these times jobs are not much available, but I know there is something terrific waiting for me to find it. Maybe by the end of summer, the job situation will improve. So I will enjoy my summer (have alot planned) and then start looking for a job.

Last week was opening weekend of our local Farmer's Market. I didn't make it and was very very sad, but just too busy. This Saturday it's my top priority! It's my very favorite part of the weekend when it's in season!

I just finished Chapter 8 "A Friendly Visitor" for the Down At The Shop on-line novel on RKMQUILTS.com. There is a great recipe that my real friend Karen and I came up with a long time ago included as a bonus at the end for you to try. I know many of us are gearing up for big Easter breakfasts next week, and this is one roll recipe that you don't want to miss! Give it a try! I will tell you that you will need to read through it first. Always, always put a… Continue

Well I started my new job, and boy oh boy what a job, I really didn't know what paperless meant. I feel sooooo old. The Dr. asked me if I could have my email pushed to my phone. Sure I said, how the heck was I supposed to know pushed and forwarded meant the same darn thing? Ok I know I know ask a teenager. So I find out that my old phone is to small to hold all that kinda of stuff. So order new one, get new phone (along with DH cause he learns things quicker and can help me) have new phone… Continue

Hi friends, it's been awhile since I last wrote and now I need to yell really loud or cry. My Mom has been in the hospital for a week, just getting worst and they send her home today and she can't even stand up or talk now. Hospice is going to come but how in the world am I going to take care of her by myself? I can't lift her she's heavy even tho she doesn't weigh anything now, just skin and bones. Hospice will not be here 24 hours a day and her Dr. knows that I need to start Chemo. I just… Continue

It's our last weekend in Florida before heading home next Wed. So, wanted to do something special. I have booked an ocean view room on Daytona Beach. I have packed the overnight bag and put it in the car. Hubby thinks we are going for a day trip. I bought our favorite foods and wine and have candles ready. Will enjoy sitting on the balcony and listen to the waves and seagulls. It will be wild and crazy when we get back to NY next week, and I love that too...but this is our time.
There will… Continue

You know my son, the college age one I blog about sometimes? We had to bring him home from college on Monday night. He suddenly began having brain seizures for no apparent reason. He has been having severe headaches that they haven't been able to control for about 2 months now. His big appt with the neurologist is at 3:30 this afternoon-eastern time. If you could send a quick prayer up for Mark-that would be very much appreciated.
* Depending on how this goes, chapter 7 of the book… Continue

RECENTLY MY ANKLE TO MY "LILY 450 QUILTING" MACHINE BROKE. I COULD NOT CLIP MY FEET ON. I SEARCHED EVERY SEWING & VAC SHOP AROUND. THEY COULD'NT GET ME ONE. SO I BEGAN MY SEARH ON THE INTERNET AND FINALLY LOCATED A SUBSTITUTE THAT VIKING HAS FOR ALL THE OLD "FLOWER" MODELS. NEEDLESS TO SAY I ORDERED ONE. MY POINT BEING; ALWAYS GO DIRECTLY TO YOUR MANUFACTURER. SEW AND VACS WON'T HELP YOU SOMETIMES. VIKING IS THE ONLY MACHINE, TO MY KNOWLEDGE, THAT HAS EXCLUSIVE… Continue

Today was a fun day, making a cute little (size XS) bonnet for Bailey. DH will take it to her when he goes down to see her (and her parents) Easter weekend. I didn't have enough fabrics for the matching bootie shoes, but there will be more bonnets coming. Had a great time seeing her on Skype last night. What a wonderful tool for… Continue
