My first Essential Pro thread order came yesterday and I am so excited. My niece was here and we can't wait to get our first quilts loaded to try it out. She even convinced me to let her take one of the spools for a quilt she had waiting at home to be quilted. Love the feel and look - Kiwi and Orange Spice were the favorite of the colors ordered.
As an update on our Pastor's daughter Kari, she is still having to undergo dialysis and she has her up and down days. She was…

I went out for coffee with my DD this morning at the Borders Book store. It's half way between where she works and goes to college at. Being that we are both getting over the flu, things went as well as could be expected. We decided to wander around the store for a while talking about things we keep forgetting to mention to each other. I've added her to my insurance at work so that she will have medical insurance now until she turns 26. Then she slaps me in the face with, "Mom, I'll be 26…

It never fails...we are always fighting the weather! lol We have had two wonderful months of sun and warm and will be heading into thunderstorms and a big snow storm on Friday into PA and NY!!! Welcome back! Luckily, we don't have to be anywhere until next week...but when you're headed home, that's where you want to be the shortest time possible! Will it ever give it up???
One thing about packing to go home, you don't have to decide what to take...it all has to go! Why did I buy so…

Good Morning,
Here's the completed quilt top for my son and future DIL. I put on the last border Monday night, but had to wait for a break in the rain to put it out on the clothes line for a picture. A special "Thank You" to Janice Aitkens for her blog about the Delectable Mountains pattern. I want to take a machine quilting class at our local quilt shop, then I may tackle quilting this. The wedding isn't until summer 2012, so I have awhile to decide.…

Good morning,
I woke up waaaaaaay too early this morning and in my boredom, I came across this really interesting way to make your kitchen or dining room into a machine quilting table:
http://www.instructables.com/id/Machine-Quilting-Table-Leaf/
Basically you build a new leaf for your kitchen table, but include a dropped box for your machine so your quilts have plenty of…

What do you do with 1and 1/4 cups of white sugar and 1 and 1/4 cups of brown sugar mixed ?????
Perhaps I should start at the beginning. Over March Break to those in Ontario, Canada -- Spring Break for those who live in the U.S., we had our 9 year old granddaughter here for the week. It was a busy week to say the least. The day before she went home was our "Nana and Kat Day ". So we started out to make chocolate chip cookies from my mother's recipe. Kat was reading the recipe and…

Well, what can I say, I am soooo excited to be going back to this retreat. I have been preparing for a little over a week, cutting out projects, packing and unpacking my retreat box. Repacking my retreat box, then unpacking it again! Ugh!
What do I want to work on, how many project can I get ready to take with me? Do I have everything I need? Have I made a list? Of course! I don't trust myself to remember EVERYTHING! I think I have 7 or 8 projects ready to go, cut, labled,…

As many of you know, I was lucky enough to be selected as a member of Quiltmaker's Scrap Squad and it's time for the reveal of Project #2. The original quilt and pattern will appear in the May/June issue of Quiltmaker soon to be on the newstand. Here's my version.
This pattern is Raspberry Dessert…

Hi:
I cannot believe that I have been away for so long. Between taking care of myself after and accident and being worried about my boys out in this world of the Army time just flies. Baby L will be 1 this week, yes one year has gone by! She's crawling, and pulling up onto things and saying Mama. She laughs so sweetly you can't help but smile with her.
Well here's a pic of my son with our Grandson at the homecoming last night. We are so grateful for the…

My brother and his family just returned to Oregon this week from their Spring Break trip to North Dakota. They drove to ND to pick up some keepsakes my 98-year-old Grandma wanted to hand over to us. Imagine how thrilled I was to discover one of the items was a huge trunk containing eight old quilts. All are documented -- three are from the civil war era and the rest are from the late 1800s through the 1930s. Beautifully made and preserved. Stunning, stunning, stunning! A Tree of Life…
