Hi all -- I don't have anything sewing related to share, but I thought you'd like to meet my new friend who has been visiting my neighborhood. This is my first opportunity to get a picture, and now I see he's just getting antlers! I've learned this is a piebald deer.…Continue
I promised to post the picture of the quilt I was repairing for my daughter. I made this some 30 years ago from a pattern in a magazine. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the pattern. The repairs were to the cream colored borders. For some reason the fabric where I had hand stitched the quilting had caused the fabric to start ripping. I didn't have the cream colored floral print I originally used but I do have the blue fabric which as it turned out I didn't need to use. …Continue
My sister Joan is an avid reader. Reads about 3 or 4 books a week on average plus she belongs to 2 book clubs. So I decided to make her a tote bag to make it easier for her to tote her books back & forth. I hope she likes it.…Continue
It is such a good feeling to have finished all my unfinished projects. I will try to not let that happen again. This is a top that my aunt sent to me years ago. Great hand piecing. I machined quilted it only because I want to give it as a gift. It was a nice size 76x76. No…Continue
In 2001 I started a chapter of the American Sewing Guild. A few years later we came out of the guild as their fee each year kept going up and some of our members couldn't afford it. Not to mention we couldn't get people to fill the necessary positions that were required. So we decided to come out of the Guild and just do our own thing. We named our group The St, Croix Stitchers. We have only had 6 members the past couple of years and some have been having health issues. Last Sat. I was the…Continue
We headed out two weeks ago meandering down to New Orleans to a conference. We both like civil war history so decided to visit some of the military parks. We started at Chattanooga at Lookout MT. Amazes us how they fought that battle on a mountain. We went downtown, which is on TN river and a huge regatta was taking place. There were thousands there. Travelled onto Vicksburg, MS. Beautiful area with the gorgeous Antebellum homes. We took a swamp boat tour in Lafayette, LA. Always thought…Continue
Just dropped in to say hi to everyone. Not much new is going on. I've been working on repairing DD's quilt that I make for her decades ago. Sounds horrible that way but it was one of the first quilts I made. Once I get finished with it, I will take it to DD's house and take a picture of it to show everyone. I will be working on thanksgiving day as usual so to all I wish a happy thanksgiving day.
I am not making much in the way of gifts this year, but I did just finish Miss Bailey's Christmas gift...
It's a byAnnie pattern (Out and About) and uses her Soft & Stable. It's great to work with....but some of the seams are really really thick to have to sew through. I found my old old Bernina that I bought several years ago for art…Continue
I posted the quilt I just finished. The file was too large for this area so you can view it on my pictures. I finished it last night at 12:30.
Vintage quilt with a story. (I'm having trouble loading the picture, so I hope it is able to be seen.)
In June of 2016, we had our annual maternal family reunion on the ranch where Mom was raised. My cousin had just remodeled the original ranch house and was sharing her mother's things with the family. There was a quilt she wanted me to see…Continue
I posted that I was gifting our family doctor of 40 years with a quilt. We received such a heartfelt thank you letter from him. He is in his early 70s...like all of us, you start out with such great enthusiasm in your first career. Soon to discover that managing a family practice is hard enough, but the staff issues make it more difficult. He finally has the best staff he has ever had and finds that he has fallen back in love with medicine...
I see that in my hubby's career...once you…Continue
I spent most of last week cleaning house for our visitors and the appraiser, so I wanted to take some photos while it was clean. Here's the living room.
I went to work yesterday and had a runny nose all morning. I finally gave up and came home at lunch time. So my boss does know that I am sick and never questions my missing time which by the way is only the 6th or 7th time I've ever called out sick in nearly 20 years of work. After spending yesterday and all night in bed the last thing I want to do is go back to bed but not quite well enough to go to work. So what does one do when your sick and bored?
We are still living in the RV…Continue
There wasn't a lot of fiber fun this week, but I managed to finish one washcloth to go to a military troop stationed in Africa....…
Just checking in. It's nice to see some posts on here. I'm hoping to get a Sunbonnet Sue quilt finished. I have the blocks done but customer orders keep me busy and during the Summer I spend a lot of time out doors so getting anything finished is difficult. Now that Fall is here I won't be outside as much and will have more time to work on my projects. I need to make a quilt for my bed. My quilt is faded, thread bare and needs to be thrown out. And the cats claws are not helping. I'm also…Continue
