My DH and I were talking tonight and I again said how unhappy I am about being overweight. He finally said that I could join Weight Watchers. So I am going to jump on it before he changes his mind. You see he feels that you shouldn't have to pay to lose weight. I have battled my weight all my life.
Today we worked in the basement. My DH got some more electrical plugs in and I was able to spread out my sewing space. It looks much better. I mostly worked on embroidery things today. I… Continue

I have not blogged for a very long because I have not done much quilting this winter. I have bought A LOT of fabric for my "quilt store closet" because my favorite quilt shop went out of business. I bought a lot for 75% off. I could not pass it up. Since I babysit my 7 month old grandson while his parents teach at our local high school I don't get to sit at the machine much. I plan to hit it hard during the summer though. I do have some exciting news to share. My youngest daughter & her… Continue

I am frantically trying to get all my stuff together so that I can drive up to Huntsville, TX. The Airing of the Quilts will be held Saturday in the town square, but I can not stay for that because it is my DH 65th BD. But, tomorrow I have an all day workshop with Carol Doak. I have taken her workshops before and have always enjoyed them, so I am looking forward to seeing her again. Everybody keep your fingers crossed that it doesn't rain! I will have to leave by 5:30am to bypass the Houston… Continue

I don't know what happened to my previous post so I hope this isn't a repeat.
My oldest son and his wife and two young sons spent the month of April living with us since they were in transition. He finished chiropractic school last spring and struggled against the economy to get a business going. They decided that they wanted to go more indepth with some of the training he learned in chiropractic school so they left to go to medical school in the Carribbean. Now that they are gone the… Continue

I am taking a break (my neck and shoulders are thanking me) from my new project - a paper pieced wall hanging quilt from the 2006 Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show. The pattern and directions are really good, which makes it so much more fun to do. Right now I am working on the pine trees. There are 20 in all, I have 6 done. It's been great to be able to take some time today to sew. Dad is taking a long nap this afternoon, which has really freed me up to do quilting etc.
Now I need to go to the… Continue

It cannot cripple love, It cannot shatter hope, It cannot corrode faith, It cannot destroy peace, It cannot kill friendship, It cannot supress memories, It cannot silence courage, It cannot invade the soul, It cannot steal eternal life,It cannot conquer the spirit. My daughter gave me this inspirational message, they have it posted at the cancer treatment where she works.

Ok, I realize everyone is sick of hearing about swine flu, but we are right in the center of it, yesterday we got a letter form the school saying a highschooler was tested and results will be in at the end of the week, and there are confirmed cases locally. I went shopping at Walmart today only to find they were completely out of hand sanitizer and almost out of antibacterial soap.
But the swine flu is not what I actually want to blog about. Before I had children I did not know the… Continue

It seems like a month since I’ve been able to post but in truth just a week or so. I’ve missed a lot but plan to get caught up soon. ( Been busy printing and folding patterns and packing the motor home). We leave for the International Spring Quilt Market this time tomorrow morning. Our first night will be in Missoula Montana and a little fearful of going over 2 main mountain passes with our rig. We’re going to see a lot of this fabulous country that we have never seen before and we’re both… Continue

You've all heard the saying..."April Showers Bring May Flowers", right? This saying sure fits this year where I live here in Colorado! We've had rain and snow, then sunshine and more rain and snow and sunshine, and I'm very optomistic that the May flowers are coming!!!! Yea! I love flowers and trees and the spring is such a time of renewal and hope don't you think? I've been busy paper piecing a couple of different Round Robins and am looking at the sunshine thinking it's going to be a gorgeous… Continue

I have a grateful heart this morning. My son came through his surgery really well. The pain should subside in a couple of days.
Thank you very much for your prayers.
My grandchildren are so much fun!

Well May 1st will be here soon and hopefully nice sunny weather. Looking forward to opening the trailer. And see our friends on Southern Georgian Bay.
Garden is starting to fill in as the spring flowers start to grow. It has been a long ,cold winter for here in Southern Ontario.
Can't wait to get out in the garden to do some tidying up. Of course then there won't be so much time for quilting!!

It's not a dance, but a tote bag pattern that I just did. I used charm squares, but you can also do the pattern with 2 1/2" strips. It is a quilt as you go pattern and put together much different than any of the others I have made so far. The pattern comes in 3 sizes. I did the 'small' (7"x7"x10"). You can check out the picture in My Photos or on the Totally Totes group site.
I have a paper piece pattern from the 2006 Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show that I am finally ready to start on. It is… Continue

I have added new pictures to my page. Some of the pictures are of my sewing space, gifts that I have made, and a Thimbleberries Basket Quilt top. It was very rainy here today. I spent most of the day in my space. Had to go get more towels and needles for my machine along with pins. I also got baskets to put my embroidery thread in. I am trying to get organized. I think that I will wait until my DH gets the electrical work done. I will be moving some of my equipment around. I would like to ask… Continue

An Update on Jeff: Today 35 years ago exactly 1:00pm Jeff was born. Well today, Jeff had excellent news that he is doing really well. We can start going to the substation for his lab work, and not go into that Miami traffic any longer. Hooray for the driver,” Me”! Ha!
Only these two weeks left, and Jeff will only have to go two days a week for a month, then the following month it will be 1 day a week, till he gets down to once a month the rest of his life. It is… Continue

Today Mom, Kathy, and I went to Sauder Village quilt show. We had a blast! There was so many quilts that were beatiful and it was really hard to decide who to pick for the people's choice award. I finally settled on "Elaine's Garden". (I think that was the name. It was made to honor her friend who died of cancer.) Mom decided on the doll house quilt. It had lots of embellishments, and looked like the inside of a doll house. Kathy choose a log cabin in reds. (Lynda, I think it was yours she… Continue
