We got home April 19th and it was still cold and rainy. Our daugther kept telling us not to come home, but to stay where we were nice and warm. We did have such a great time and loved all the warm, hot weather that we had. We've got caught up on all the things that we needed to and now are ready to play again. No more long trips until July, just shorter ones. We didn't do any crabbing in OR or WA, because we didn't want to freeze sitting there waiting for the crabs to eat the turkey legs.…Continue
Here's my version of the Li'l Twister tool pinwheel project for my girl. She graduates from college this weekend and is in the process of moving into an apartment. This is a little housewarming gift for her.
It ended up approximately 15" x 21". I put Insul-bright along with cotton batt in this one so she could set a casserole dish on it if she wanted. The black tonal pinwheel fabric might have been a poor choice, but I hoped the solid black would be enough different so it…Continue
Awhile back, I posted a message about how I was DESPERATE for a particular quilt pattern. Apparently no one had it although several though it was really cute.
Last Monday, I decided to 'google' it again and I FOUND IT!! I immediately sent off payment for it and it arrived today. Here it is. I'm soooo excited!!!!!
I can't wait to get started... but it will have to wait until the end of this month :(. Oh well, I've waited 5 yrs for it and now I have it - I can wait a couple…Continue
Sorry, I don't have a picture, but if you have access to the latest edition of Quilter's Home, there is an article near the front about using zippers as trim. Also shows a quilt with zippers (non-functioning I assume) between the blocks. I was thinking about attaching the zipper behind the binding with only the teeth showing. Had to hunt around to find a place that sold zipper by the yard, but finally found it in an upholstery shop.

Got a question. How do I add words to a quilt? I've already made the quilt, but I want to add some words to it. I've thought about embroidery but I don't have an embroidery machine. I've thought about cutting out little rectangles and writing the words on it with a pigment pen and then applique it to the quilt. Painting, stamping, permanent marker.....help! Which one of these methods do you think will work best, if…
Just wondering if anyone has used the new fad of zipper trim to edge a quilt and how it came out. I'm thinking of trying it this summer and would appreciate feedback. Thanks

Hey guys, all have been so great and incouraging. I looked in at a couple of your home pages and you guys are nurses too. What is it that draws stressed out overworked underappreciated falling apart nurses to a hobbie that can be frustrating, exasprating, embarassing, overpowering, heartfelt, and OH that is just cool? To the nurses that took the time to give me a moment of their time. Thank you. I am still trying to learn this site so I am stumbling through this right now too.…Continue
I know this isn't about quilting, but I would really appreciate prayers from my quilting friends here---my DD just texted from her college. They are gettting hit really hard by the storms and are in a tornado warning. The storm is breaking over them right now. She isn't normally afraid of anything like this, so it must be really bad. They already had been hit hard this morning and the campus was cut off for a while and still has no power. She is in Rome, Georgia. The kids are really…Continue
