Last Friday, the network's engineering team resolved an issue that was affecting broadcast emails and email notifications on this Quilt With Us platform. One of the servers was not sending messages properly, and after restarting the server, messages dating back several days were queued for delivery. It took a few days before the backlog of unsent messages were finally delivered over the course of this past weekend. During this time, there was some…
This was sent to me by Linda Robertson/TN this morning...It's too good to not share...Thanks Linda...it is a special reading.
GRANDMA'S HANDS (A "must read")
Grandma, some ninety plus years, sat feebly on the patio bench. She didn't move, just sat with her head down staring at her hands.
When I sat down beside her she didn't acknowledge my presence and the longer I sat I wondered if she was OK.
Finally, not really wanting to disturb her…
I made good progress on the Dogwood Blossoms sweater, about 1" of the pattern. I put it on two circs, so you can see…Continue
Things are about the same with William, he is gaining strength and improving a little every day. They help him get up and get in a wheelchair and he goes outside to the courtyard. He is able to roll himself around some in the chair.
They are taking the splint off my left leg today and I will be wearing a boot (the same one I had in the beginning). The purpose of that is to keep my foot flexed at a 90 degree angle. The swelling on my right leg has gone down and will probably have…Continue
Cherish Sock Monkey Quilt…
Quilted blocks…this will in fact be completed by the time of the baby shower for wee little Cherish! Fabric…Continue
Many of you probably have joined Pinterest...check it out. There is a section for wedding ideas...but could be used for any invitation party. They request that you include a piece of fabric in your reply so the bride can have a quilt made of the occasion. That would be fun for a baby shower to bring to the party!
My daughter has finished and defended her dissertation at Northwestern University! I am really proud of her getting her doctorate, so I hope you don't mind if I write about it here. Her baby (my granddaughter!!) is due in about 3 and a half weeks and I am going to Chicago next weekend for her baby shower. Then she will graduate in the middle of June. We will be there for about 2 weeks in June & I am so excited. I will post a picture of her baby quilt tomorrow although I am not quite…Continue
I'm so excited to get this wall hanging done. In just a few days (after finalizing my decisions about the fabric, that is) I've managed to complete the inner square complete with the mitered-corner ribbon border. Now, on to the next round. Here's a picture of what's done so far:
I was thinking of making more blocks, and thus the flying geese in the corners - I ran out of the black, and it is pretty impossible to get. Not to mention I'm supposed to be stash busting with this new method!
I also have started up a Square in a Square group here - I thought it would be fun to discuss using this ruler with others.…Continue
My sister and just got back from being in Paducah for the quilt show, we had a great time. We got lots of fabric and other things to. Quilt in a Day had three places to shop this year, they had a warehouse and that was great good bargains. We plan to go next year again.
Have you ever entered one of your quilts in a show?
I went to my first ever quilt show this past weekend. I loved it. One of my quilt guilds is having a quilt show this fall. They had asked me (along with everyone else) to make a quilt for the show. I am not sure if I am good enough to do a…Continue
I think some quilts have too much quilting and it makes them appear stiff and not necessary to have all that fine quilting. When batting could not live through washing and had to be quilted every inch it was necessary to take the time. Now you can space it every four inches. Do you think it is a trend to stitch close? I get tired of micro stitching if I am quilting. Some of it looks great in a open space, but do it on busy fabric?
The name of fabrics. I was looking for more fabric to…Continue
Words cannot express the gratitude I feel about the cards/gifts/especially prayers we have recieved. This is going to be a long road to recovery for William and I, but trust God to take care of us. Will try and post more later...not much has changed since Linda posted last. God Bless each of you.
Laurie and William
I finally finished. I made this quilt for my sister who is a Garfield nut. She can draw Garfield as well as Jim Davis, the creator of the character. Anyway growing up I loved Odie. She tortured me like Garfield tortured Odie... Hence the name of the quilt Odie's twisted sister. :-) The corner stones are Garfield and Odie together.…Continue
Hubby had a speaking engagement in Niagara Falls yesterday. So, we decided that it would be an overnight get away. We were on the preferred floor at the hotel, b/c of being the quest speaker(I'm not paying for it)...so you would think it would be a little higher security. Luckily, I was dressed when three men come barging in...laughing and having a ball. I don't know who was more shocked, me or them. They couldn't have been nicer and everybody was quick to leave. Scared the h--- out of me!…Continue

My Bernina 185 has been with me for so long and now it needs to go and get checked out! It turns off then comes back on its own, hmmm sounds like a short somewhere to me. It has to go back to where I got it East of Versailles, darn, darn, darn-it!
We can't afford a new machine, and I truly don't want one, this machine is like…Continue
