Have you ever had a quilt that when you finished it you just was not happy with it ? Well I was looking through some quilt that I had quilted back in the (way back) past and found one that I must have just gave up on and was not happy with it so I put a binning on and called it finished . I think that I have come a long way in my quilting that I'm going to go back and redo this quilt. I love the fabric and how it was pieced so I want it to be quilted better.…Continue
You asked for this so here it is, My Simple Sewing Space!
Welcome to my work space! Not being a person, who procures a great many things, I prefer a short-and-sweet way of living. My motto is: if I don’t use it regularly it gets thrown out. What you are about to see will not rival the polished and sophisticated work areas…Continue
It was 82 degrees on Saturday & today it is snowing! I'm beginning to think that some how or another I just slept through spring, summer & fall and am back dealing with winter. My poor daffodils are looking kind of bewildered and my huge tree doesn't know what to do. So if anyone knows where spring is, would you please tell it that we would like it to come back to visit in Mid-Missouri?
It's Like the Skies of Roswell! Except this is a different kind of UFO.
My Yei Figures Bag is finished except for adding the beads to the necklaces and bolos.
I decided to line it with some nice quilting fabric. The lining has some pockets for knitting or quilting…Continue
We hit 82 today!!!! that never happens in CNY this time of the year. But, as anyone who lives in the north knows, EVERYONE is out doing yard work, smiling, and sunning themselves! We did a little ourselves. Finishing my second I Spy quilt...three more to do!
Went to buy groceries this afternoon. Hubby disappears to go get some beer. He wasn't returning, so I go in search of him! Come around the corner and here's a blonde bending forward asking him all kinds of questions about…Continue
Just going to jump right in here with a bit of an intro...*smile*
After reading all of that I hope you're still awake. You can take a look at my gallery and see what I do. I plan to hop around and have a look at all the art on this site. It might take me awhile since I am working on…Continue
I wrote in my diary on April 24, 1982 that I wanted to write a book about my great grandmother Kizzie Pieratt and the many quilts she made. Although that idea started my writing career, I didn't get around to starting on Kizzie's book until 2003. Then other things in life took priority...
Now I'm proud to say the first book in my great grandmother's story Tying the Knot is finally out this…Continue
While my father was in the hospital for a few days, I made a variety of Kanzashi flowers with batiks. I had a collection of button jars with lids just calling out to be adorned with a matching flower! When all the…Continue
Hi All! Sure has been quiet around here the past few days. Everyone must be doing their spring cleaning, or maybe just busy finishing up their projects. We have had a couple nice days and supposed to be almost 70 Saturday!
I'm currently working on a customer quilt that was once her mothers. A lil frustrated with my progress. The center was her mothers wall hanging that was finished, and by finished I mean top, batting, backing AND binding, and well.......it's all still there. …Continue
It's another week for UFOs. Janet's Sipalu Bag is finished!
Janet started this bag in 2008. She thinks of herself as a quilter, not a knitter, but she has the talent, learns new techniques quickly and has a great sense of color. She changed some of the colors for…Continue
This past weekend was Quilt Show weekend here in Central Alberta. It's one of Alberta's major quilt shows. I am thrilled to report my quilt My Love For Thee took Best if Show, Handquilting,
Viewers Choice and the coveted Canadian Quilters Guild's rosette. A photo of this quilt on My Page.
Noted historian and author, Barbara Brackman has created another free block of the week program. It is about Jane Austen and her era. There will be a bit of interesting history and a 12" block pattern each week. It started today. I thought I would let you all know in case some of you are interested.
Here is the link to the blog/patterns:…Continue
Well I haven't had one this bad in a long time. The whole week was bad which should have been a sign. Anyway I started sewing on Saturday wanting to get some of the birds in the air blocks done, only to realize that the half square triangles were turned the wrong way. so I started ripping seams. Yuck! So today I figured that I would start piecing the mystery quilt. Everything was going together nice until it was time to piece the blocks together when I realized that once again the half…Continue
Finished the first of several I spy quilts that I will be making. We had five girl babies born to friends and family this past week! Found the animal print down in Florida...they will also get a beginner's I Spy book along with their quilts. …Continue
This weekend I am doing prep work for retreat. Pulling out fabric, checking patterns, buying more needles, etc. Our annual spring quilt retreat starts Wednesday. Twenty, yes twenty, years ago when we started doing this there were 8 women. We all had children at home. We started on Friday evening after DH's and others workday ended. Ran away from home, a whole two, maybe three miles. We stayed up late or all night and had terrible space to work and laughed the whole time. Such freedom. We…Continue

Looking forward to seeing finished quilt tops soon in Part 3 & Beyond Members Photos under Discussion…
