Fiber first, as usual. I needed a lightweight project to take with me camping and on the plane, so I started the Ginger Leaves Shawlette by Christina Wall.…
I gave my new embroidery machine a run for it's money last night. Now I'm sure every one has an idea of what I am making for my grandson. So far Mario and Bowser are finished. I still have several more characters to stitch out but I will be getting them done within the month.…Continue
We were planning a camping trip over the weekend. Preparations for it dominated my week. Of course, I needed a project to work on while camping, so I cast on the Ginger Leaves Shawlette by Christina Wall. Here's how far I got over the weekend.…
I have been stitching this for the past year. It always feels so good to take that last stitch!
This is a gift to our family doctor. He has given us such great care for the past 40 years. Our son and family also go to him. He has been a great friend and asset to our community. He and his wife will greatly appreciate it.…Continue
As some of you know I have been trying to make a quilt for my grandson. The quilt part is finished but I needed to make some embroidered designs to applique onto the quilt. I had a singer quantum 6000 that I loved but the special bobbin for rewinding the bobbin thread broke and I couldn't find any online anywhere. So that machine went bye-bye and I bought a Brother PE800 machine. Well I have been trying and trying and trying to get my designs to stitch out without much luck. Yesterday…Continue
Life in an RV is a little to cramped for me. I have been working on a few things. Besides buying a sitdown quilting machine, I also bought a new embroidery machine. I've been working on some designs that I hope to get embroidered soon. It's the quilt I've been planning for Aiden for the last couple years. I've got the designs ready and hoping the in-laws will let me use their dinning table to work on. If that works out I just might get the quilt finished in time for Christmas. My…Continue
This is an amazing quilt and truly deserved the win! Over 5000 pieces!!!! Years ago, someone stoled a quilt from the show. Just walked out the back door. Never did recover it...Continue
This week saw a little progress on the whole cloth quilt.…Continue
Well, guess who this belongs to?!! Finally finished. First time I experimented with the lettering stitch on my sewing machine, too. Trial and error, but I like how her name on the cuff came out. The back is made with her daddy's army camo.…Continue
I can hardly believe it's been2 years since I last blogged. I'll have to try harder. But you know how it is...life gets in the way. So this year I made Izzy's Choice. Designed by Jeana Kimball, this delightful quilt was just the ticket to get me through recovery from surgery. I had prepped the entire quilt, which is just the way I work, and got busy as soon as I was healthy enough. After all the applique was finished, I handquilted each block and border as separate units. Then I…Continue
We'll start with Veronika's exterior. Her dress is done.Continue
congrats to BJ on her quilt touring the country and to Pam for her post as well. As for me, well I am sitting in a small RV. We finally sold the house. My other half is still waiting for L & I to do something about his back. We didn't get as much out of our house as we expected to due to some shifty work by the mortgage company. I am still working but between the 2 of us we just aren't getting enough to afford even an apartment in our area. Because this RV is so small, I just don't…Continue
They have put out the schedule for the quilts, through January. More shows will be scheduled, but at least we know where are quilts will be for a few months. I was rather pleased to be in the Chocolate.... oops, I mean Brown ... group. There are some amazing creations, hope you can see some of them throughout 2020 when you attend quilt shows!
The schedule so far, along with who is in what group:…Continue
As much as we love fresh corn, hardy mums and The NY State fair it means summer is ending. It's a special Labor Day weekend for our family. Our parents will have been married 70 years! They are both 88 and doing great. They don't travel like they use to... but always manage to stay busy. They have subscribed to their hometown paper in Schuyler, NE for 70 years. This is the announcement, I placed to surprise them...the year should be 49, they assured me it has been corrected!
We're getting our house painted. Here's what we started out with:
The days are much shorter – the last ‘walkies’ for the dog at 10 p.m. are now done in the dark – such a change from mid-June when it’s still daylight at 10 and even at 11 p.m. it still isn’t completely dark. And of course, by 4 am, it’s light again. Quite a change from our winters – when it’s dark by 5 p.m. and not light again until after 8 a.m. One of the advantages of living in the (semi) north. I understand that Washington, Oregon and California are considering staying on…Continue
