Time to rest

I have spent most of the day in my sewing space. I pieced yesterday and quilted today a baby quilt. I am working on the binding right now. When I finish it I will post pictures. I think I will give it to the new mother our Kindred group adopts every year. It is a funky color quilt. My husband has worked in the garage all day building shelves so he can get his junk out of the storage unit. We are trying to cut back on spending as Medicare will not pay for my insulin pump supplies. The doctors… Continue

Thursday--progress

HI All--first a progress report on the froggy fun fiasco flamboyant quilt--I added some green rick rack in the border because, well because the thing was starting to look just a little too tasteful. LOL I am closing in on finishing the beasts and after I bind it the fun begins with embellishments. Still no camera. Don't worry--we'll get there.

I sent out my little newsletter/pattern--if you're on my list and didn't get yours, let me know and I'll check my email address. It's really… Continue

Concentrated quilting time coming!

Tomorrow is 1/2 day for students and we begin summer break! It also begins my concentrated piecing/quilting time. I am so excited. this week (I operate very efficiently under stress!) I have cut and almost finished piecing a BQ2 quilt top. It is really easy and a great beginner's quilt....or one for someone who just has to do something! The colors are not quilte mine, but i think I like it. Will post pictures when finsihed piecing. Quilting could be a ways off! I am anxiously looking to begin… Continue

Cookies...

I made soft sugar cookies today... If I had a FQ for every cookie I ate.... I'd have enough to make a HUGE quilt. (Oh, my poor waistline...)

Finally a minute to myself!

I am one of those people who tends to volunteer for things and then later asks myself- now why did I do that? I am so far behind on so much that I don't know where to start?! And then to boot, I pulled my back gardening and have been horizontal most of this last week! Talk about frustrated! But today I actually can sit up at the computer and am doing much better!

I never have posted about my guild retreat from 2 weeks ago. I had a great time! The other ladies are super and the… Continue

Hey Ya'll!

I haven't been here in a while, spring is very very busy around our house, and I became a grandmother to a wonderful sweet baby girl on April 27th! It has been an exciting spring, that is for sure!

I was also asked by our local quilting club to put together some projects for a big art show/sale near Toronto this fall! So I hauled my machine back out and I've been working on another origional that I started on Tuesday this week. It is going to be called "Gardening with Mommy"

I am very… Continue

My first entry

Hello everyone, I have never posted a blog before, so forgive me if I don't do things "right" I love to quilt, but am not in any quilting group. I am not real comfortable around large groups where I don't know any one. I think that comes from moving around so much when I was little - my Dad was in the service. I was always very shy and even though I am better now - I still like to be around smaller groups. Most of my quilts are given away to my family - but I have a couple I have kept. I am not… Continue

History of Aprons

I know many of you make aprons...thought you might enjoy this...there were many feed sack aprons made...have a great day!

History of 'APRONS'...

I don't think our kids know what an apron is.

The principal use of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath, because she only had a few, it was easier to wash aprons than dresses and they used less material; but along with that, it served as a potholder for removing hot pans from the oven.

It was… Continue

This sums it up!

> JUST A MOM?

>

> A woman, renewing her driver's license at the County Clerk 's office,

> Was asked by the woman recorder to state her occupation.

> She hesitated, uncertain how to classify herself.

>

> "What I mean is, " explained the recorder,

> "do you have a job or are you just a ...?"

>

> "Of course I have a job," snapped the woman.

> "I'm a Mom."

> "We don't list 'Mom' as an occupation,

>… Continue

Memorial Quilt

I posted the picture of my friend's Memorial Quilt. I plan to give it to her on Monday... that is the anniversary of her brother's death. I included pictures of him & her on the quilt. I'm pleased with the way it turned out. I hope she will like it and treasure it.

Photo Transfer

I am interested in trying photo transfer on a quilt. I have done it on a couple of really small projects, quite a few years ago, but haven't touched it since. I'd like any tips that you have to share to help me. Has anybody used it on a quilt that actually gets used, as opposed to a wallhanging or pillow that might not get washed? I'd like to incorporate this into the many t-shirt quilts I make for gifts.

Rain, rain and more rain here today! Cold, too! It barely reached 50 degrees… Continue

I'm learning how to post quilt photos for this forum. Also, looking through scraps of fabric to begin the quilt on June 15th. I bought a few half yards of fabric last Sun that will be nice for it.

I'm Back

Hey Ya'll,

Got the new PC faster than expected, I ordered it on Sat and it came on Thurs, took it to Best Buy for the Geek Squad to copy over my doc's, got it back today and well I can't find them. Will look some more before I call or take it back over. Maybe I should have asked them to open it up so I could see if it all was there before I left the store, it's about an hour's drive for me.

Baby Tyler

I just got my baby fix! I took a few things to Teri this morning with the selfish benefit of getting to hold Tyler. My how he's grown! What a fun way to spend a morning - holding Teri's baby while she works (only a little work, I promise!).

End of Semester!

Whew! I'm officially done with the Spring semester and today I'm deprogramming. Although 2 of my classes may be considered "easy," they required lots of time and dedication. So far, I've aced both the art and computer class, but am awaiting my psych grade. I feel I did pretty well throughout this particular class so I should get an A. :) It's ok to brag, right? lol

Summer class begins on 6/22 so I have a couple weeks to gather my thoughts, get some piecing and quilting done and try not to… Continue
