ISO pushing

I've been quilting since 1974 and have taken many fantastic classes and techniques through shops and guilds and have taught a few as well.   I belong to 2 guilds but have rarely been so ahead on projects to get them in for show & tell before they are due to be gifted.  Also I just get weird about receiving compliments, yes I know how to say "Thank You", but being on stage and the center of attention pushes my comfort levels sorely.

I took Watercolor Quilts from Magaret &…

NOT HAPPY

Normally I LOVE Connecting Threads, but not today!  I purchased a kit on line “Bittersweet Briar”.  Very pretty design….  Loved the colors! Didn’t read the “fine print” and was suposed to purchase a book with the design… I have never purchase a kit that didn’t have the directions with it.  Anyway… I can work around that.   Got the kit home and the colors DO NOT MATCH the photo!!!  The fabrics I received were much…

Looking for friends

I would like to make some friends that quilt, sew and embroider. I have been doing handwork since I was young. I got away from quilting for a while, now I am going back to quilting to help me quit smoking and stay quit. I have smoked for 27 yrs. and now is the time for me to quit for good.

 I have 2 totes full of…

Another Project

Yesterday brought out a couple of boxes of fabric - and found some blocks I had made don't know when.  Have been squaring them up and will make a small throw for the living room.  Will post a picture when I get the top put together.  Also found some flannel left from nightgowns I had made for my granddaughters sometime in the past.  These will make nice quilts for our nursery at church.

Just never know what i might find when I pull a box out of the closet!!! It is a good thing there…

Hello Fishy!

My DGD got her first try on fishing this weekend. Her other grandpa and dad took her out on a boat at one of the ponds, they caught a large trout, and Amelia had to say hello to it. Aahhh, the innocence of… Continue

Found my son...I forgot to ask him which ER he was going to.

A very groggly son said he was given a pain pill and he thinks they said it was his gall bladder or something like that.  DH will take me to son's tomorrow morning and I can see for myself.  They are admitting him into the hospital.

mostly unpacked and quilt priorities

We have the majority unpacked now.  I'm down to waiting for walls to be painted so I can hang things.  We have the guest bedroom, the upstairs bathroom and the kitchen/entry left to paint.  We only paint when hubby has a two day weekend and he only has them every three weeks.

Rest and Relaxation! At Last! Whew!

Whew! What a weekend! I suppose you think I sat here at my computer writing those last few chapters of The Ties That Bind, but no. I was out and about. Granted, I was "thinking" about writing the chapters, but I still got out.

So? What now? I have the usual housework to do and if I am "feeling it" I just might write a few chapters of the third book and get a step ahead of the game. You know, I always say I am going to do that, but never quite get around to it. We'll see.

I… Continue

Happy Memorial Day and Thank you to my DH for 23.5 years of Service!

Today was a great day for me in the sewing room.  I finished the following topper but am looking for some advice on how I should quilt it.  It is for a 50th Wedding Anniversary so not really sure what I want accept for them to love it and to cheerish it for another 50 years together.  All ideas are great appreciated.…

New Quilt ...... Help!

Hey Yawl,  the quilt is finished. I used hand stitching to create the words (Thanks Joanne/GA).  This one is a doozy because the content of the quilt can be viewed as being harsh, but at the same time, it is rooted in reality.  I hadn't posted a pic because I didn't want to offend, yet at the same time, the quilt speaks the truth. Should I post it for yawl to see, or should I keep this one private? Clarification: The name of the quilt is "The Great Journey"....(from Africa to America).

Update

Sorry I haven't been very active here - I've been too busy getting ready to move, and recovering from my knee replacement.  It's been an extremely busy month for this girl!  But I'm actually sitting here with nothing to do for the moment - my Vancouver house is rented, I found a house in the Seattle area, the movers have come and gone and they'll meet me at the new place tomorrow morning, so my cousin Joy and I are driving up very early tomorrow with my cats and all the fragile stuff to meet…

She's done it again!

Hello Everyone,

Yep she's done it again.  We have a new litter of pups.  Last week, two girls and a boy arrived at the house.  They are now a week old and all are doing fine.  How you may ask could this have happened when I had my male yorkie fixed?  Who would have thought that the male puppy they had last year (6 to 7 months old when this happened) could get mom pregnant? I was in denial for quite some time over this until she balooned up over the last few weeks.   What was done was…
