Last week I started a cover to put over a big screen t.v. I don't remember leaving one of my land line phones on the ironing board in the sewing room but I laid the t.v. cover over it. I have been tearing this apartment apart all week looking for that phone. Even went to the garbage bin thinking I might have thrown it in a trash bag. Can't you just picture me going through those bags I put out there? Perhaps the neighbors just thought I had taken up a new hobby "Dumpster Diving". I tried…

Hello all!
These are some things I've been working on. I'm shopping my stash and using only what I have on hand.
A little cowboy quilt top with the sheriff's badges for a baby whose grandpa was a long-time sheriff.
A little knitted baby sweater - trying to learn new…

As part of my commitment to finishing older UFOs, I looked through the drawers of an entertainment center I have in my sewing room to see what I could find that could be finished fairly quickly. This was a New Year's Eve mystery from 2003 & was supposed to be 4 placemats with a log cabin block on one end & a plain block with an appliqued daisy in a flower pot on the other. I had only made the 4 log cabin blocks so I decided to make 4 more log cabin blocks plus put a plain block in…

My daughter decided 2 years ago to go back to school to get her Associates Degree. She has been a single mother since her 2 boys were very young so it was not always easy to work & go to school, but her dad & I are very proud of her for sticking with it. We are encouraging her to continue on to get at least a 4 yr degree. She will officially graduate on Friday night & her oldest son will graduate from high school on Sunday. I gave her this flag quilt as a symbol that we can…

We have been busy with opening the lake house. The weather is finally turning to the good. Getting flowers in and feeding the birds! We have a very rare bird feeding at our feeder...it is an Indigo Bunting. My hubby remembers seeing one when he was a little boy. Sure hope they nest in our bushes and stick around!

I had the opportunity recently to take a free motion quilt class. It was a fun day. I still have a lot to learn but did pretty good for a beginner. I didn't know you had to lower your feed dogs and pull the bobbin thread up. A little knowledge makes things much easier. I joined the Quilters Guild a couple of months ago. Now I belong to three sewing groups.
Yesterday I decided to tear up my little garden spot so I can re-plant and add new plants. I'm so sore today I…

This DWR quilt that I posted a picture of was made by my sister's 1st husband's grandmother sometime in the 1930's. It is handpieced. She carried the quilt top all over the different places she has lived, even after divorce. When I started quilting, she asked me to quilt it for her to give to her oldest son. It felt like an…

One week ago today it snowed.
The next day was Dusty's birthday. I was afraid it would be too muddy at Run-A-Muk dog park, but it wasn't too bad, in spite of the snow the day…
