Yesterday we had our Vintage Stitchers quilting group meeting. We met at Barbara's house. It was a nice day, so we sat outside.
Above are Carol and Barbara sewing on binding.
Diane is working on a new applique project. Here's one she just finished.
Barbara has had this finished for quite a while, but…

I love to hand quilt but have a problem when it comes to the borders. I use a hoop but sometimes the fabric is too short to pull it tight when using a hoop. Also does anyone know of a good marking tool to use that will mark designs on ALL fabrics?

alike! I was beginning to think that quilters were just helpful, friendly, giving people because across the board, that is what I have found over the past year. Well, I finally stumbled upon a group - yep! a GROUP - that is not helpful or very friendly for that matter - at least not to newbies! I guess that just shows that quilters are human also so they can't all be perfect, right?!
Anyway, I like it here and one other place I found so I don't need that third group! Groups… Continue

Good evening all. I am too tired right now to spend time transferring photos so I apologize for that. I’ll work on today’s photos and get them to you tomorrow. Our drive from Billings to Rapid City was really nice. Just before we got to Gillette WY, we saw a mama Antelope nursing her baby and wouldn’t you know I couldn’t get my camera turned ON for all the tea in China. I was so mad that… Continue

I just added six new pictures of the quilt I just finished to my page. Need to cut a few more threads but wanted to take pictures before it got to dark. As you can see it was a kit from CT and I just added more borders. The back shows the quilting better. Will use thinner thread from now on because you back track a lot. I really love this technique. I love doing free motion quilting.

I need to be working on my web designer classes, but I'm goofing around as usual. I have 3 friendship dollies to work on except I always end up working on my hexagon scrappy quilt. It's too much fun. My sister and I are also having fun coming up with ideas for her daughter's "redneck marriage vows renewal" event. That's going to be a lot of fun.

Why in the world do we have earwigs? We just sprayed with bug stuff outside and around my patio doors on the inside. I hope this get rid of them. We've had so much rain, between mosquitos and earwigs, they are driving me crazy.

I need some advice on quilting my Stack-n-whack quilt that is labeled Melody in my photos. I just keep walking around it trying to decide the best way to quilt it. I'm thinking...stitch in the ditch (ugh) for the sashings and borders..and meandering the blocks, setting triangles, and borders. I guess I really want to do clamshells on the triangles but don't want it any busier than it already is. I just know someone is going to yes..stitch in the ditch....

I went to Lowe's Hardware for some stuff and thought while I was there I might as well look at every isle. I am so happy I did. I have needed a new iron for like months but really do not want to spend the money. So as I was walking down the isle with the irons I stopped and browsed. To my suprise I found a $70 Rowenta being discontinued. I paid $17 for the iron. I was so happy. I can not wait to use it to see how it works. I had a Sunbeam that I really liked so I hope this is good. For $17 I am… Continue

I've been racking my brains trying to find a design to fit the Sponge Bob fabric. They are similar to the Wizard of Oz Fabric.

Oh my. I went on a 1 week vacation and came back to a counter full of zucchini! On the pnone, DS said there would probably be a few ready to pick when I got home. Hope he never has a 'few' projects for me to do :-). I only have 1 hill this year. Wish my sewing time was as productive. Visited my sis in AZ ( the cooler Prescott area) and she took me to several area quilt shops. Couldn't believe that one shop we visited had 3 other customers and we were all originally from central IL- even the… Continue

A homebody, that's what I am, a homebody. And I've agreed to go 2 whole hours away to my brother's camp this weekend. From the amount of planning and lists I am making you'd think I was going to be going away for a month, at least. This all started when my DD & SIL were asked to go, then we were. I said yes, throwing caution to the wind. My son has been in NJ for a week and I was counting on him to be home Fri. and take care of things here. Then he called his uncle and asked if he could… Continue

Good morning everyone!
I was thinking about how much I HATE cotton blouses this morning as I was ironing up a nice white cotton blouse for work today and then since my iron is right beside my sewing area I started thinking about how much I love to fondle my cotton for quilting. I don't mind ironing when I'm piecing but really don't like ironing clothes. Hmmmm... do I need a shrink to work through this or do I have QWU friends that are like-minded?
Have a great day

So, I am off to shop today! Looking forward to it! I went through my closet and discovered that it was time for a change and now's the time!
I also realized that I need summer clothes. I don't know what I wore last year, but they just won't do. One thing that Indianapolis has are great consignment shops. One in particular has clothes… Continue

Wow, what a day. This is always our hardest leg as it’s the longest one we make although I do have to say it’s one of the most beautiful drives anywhere. Talk about wide open spaces, snow topped mountains, and lush green everywhere….there’s nothing like Montana. Our day started a little early as we had a family of squirrels doing a square dance on our roof at 4am this morning. DH was… Continue
