Wonderful Trip!

This past weekend, DH and I went to Tahquamenon Falls and Whitefish Point in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Thought you'd like to see a picture or two. Some I think would be interesting thread paintings.

This is part of the lower falls.…

Update on my grandsons' father

As some of you will recall I posted a message the other day about my grandsons' dad being involved in a serious motorcycle accident on June 16th (last week Thursday).  Unfortunately, today the drs made the hard decision to remove the bottom half of his left leg as it was damaged too much to be saved.  His dad and half brother refused to sign the papers although it was absolutely necessary to do this so it fell to his long time girlfriend to do so.  She was crying very hard when she talked to my… Continue

"Techniques for Textiles" - just found this group

YIPEE! Just found this "Techniques for Textiles"  group thanks to a member on the" Threadpainting" group.  They are learning and doing new things with their fabric.  From sewing tucks to adding colored pencils, there is quite of bit of information there so far.  Some of the techniques I've used for quite a while, but I see that I STILL have lots to learn.  I strongly encourage others who  might be interested in this subject to check them out.

The Threadpainting group is new and also a…

Patterns and Kits Swapped for Fabric!

I finished the inventory of all kits and patterns that I have and came up with a 6-page list of goodies. The list covers soft sculpture, dolls, quilt kits, patterns, embroidery, redwork, wearables and more. The same rules for the book swap apply to the patterns/kits swap. You can find the list here: Patterns%20and%20Kits%20for%20Swap%20List.pdf

I have received a very positive…

It's early yet, but I have been up for awhile here in Indy. We have been graced with some wild weather this morning in our area. I first woke up around 4:30 am and heard the rain, but didn't think much of it. Then, again at 5:15 I heard thunder, but wasn't alarmed. Then, Mancave got up and went to work out and shortly thereafter, it really decided to break loose!

It was raining cats, dogs, fish and all kinds of things and hailing to beat the band. I looked outside and saw an orange… Continue

Happy Father's Day!

Here's one of my favorite photos of my dad.  We're on a train in Alaska together.  This was taken a few years ago, but he looks exactly the same today.  As ornery as ever, too!  Happy Father's Day,… Continue

Oh no! I Started ANOTHER Project

A few of us at work loved this project so Teri decided to start a group called Year at a Glance. We are making a cute project from the book Big Fun with a Little Fabric. The blocks are so quick to make. Each…

Over whelmed

Question: I love and admire quilting forever. My question is: I get so overwhelmed choosing a project and fabric, I can not seem to overcome this. Once I have everything in line all goes smoothly for me. The the process is so stressful for something I truely enjoy doing. I need help or suggestions...its almost like a block. I read books, buy supplies watch shows and I so admire the beautiful work a quilter does. How do I…

I'm Back!!

Life got very busy for a while, but now I'm back to QWU and it feels sooo good.  I've joined the new threadpainting group and looking forward to improving my skills.  I'm also browsing some of  my creative" type books and may even get to finish the art quilt that is still hanging on my design wall.  Going to try to catch up with the Love of Art Quilts group too and I want to see  what  friends have been creating over the past year or so...more later.

Quilt label

My DMIL's quilt is done at last!  I am sure she will love it...

I made the quilt label...a fabric letter in a fabric envelope.  The "letter" is attached to the "envelope" with a ribbon.  On the photo here the "letter" is obviously not sewn to the back of the quilt yet...…

back up and punt

So I finally have time to get back to work on my wall hanging.  I'm piecing the border blocks.  I get to step three and I don't have the fabrics for the block corners.  This pattern was written in steps instead of giving all the cutting instructions at the beginning.  So I look thru every bin and drawer in my room and I don't even find a smidge of the main fabrics.  The only one I have is the dark purple for the binding but… Continue

Dresses for Africa??

I remember reading a blog about sewing little dresses to be sent to Africa. But I didn't bookmark the site and I'm wondering if anyone else saw the blog and can give me an address. Would be a nice change from quilting and would help someone.
